The triceps in particular worked hard today. Back to work on Monday after 9 days away, so making the most of the gym and family time while I can. That said, there’s two bank holidays next week, so a 4 day weekend to look forward to!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

- 2012 vs 2020 and 2022. Cosplay has always been one of my motivations when it comes to my fitness journey. I wasn’t the best looking Cap when I first started, to say the least. While body positivity is important, I knew I wanted to change and improve my health and fitness. Looking better as Cap was just a cool byproduct of the process! Protein shakes and discipline became my super soldier serum. And it brought my hair back!!!! No, not really.

Have a great day, looking forward to the weekend!

End of week 1 being back at the gym versus start of week 4. No idea on how accurate these things are, but at least i can see there’s been some sort of improvement.

Sometimes progress feels slow. Remember, consistency is key. You won’t turn your fitness around overnight, it takes time and discipline. Find that motivation, and remember why you’re doing this. You might start to see changes in your body in as little as 4-6 weeks, but generally speaking others might not notice until 8-12 weeks after you start a new fitness routine.

So as I near the end of week 4, I can honestly say I’m getting stoked to show you guys what I can continue to achieve between now and the end of week 12. Stay tuned!

A veritable Fafnir’s horde from Raven Forge arrived today! This is their gym bundle, featuring a gym bag, tube scarf, gym towel, and shaker bottle. I’ve also picked up this awesome tank top and an axe head letting to keep my locker keys on. Huge thanks to these guys, looking forward to taking it all on my next gym raid! The sweets and the trading card were a nice touch, too.

Note to self: get better at this whole thing 🤣

Ending the week with leg day, and made it a strong one. Have an awesome weekend, everyone!

Side note: you may notice that I’m a big fan of Grimfrost and their gym wear range. If you like the look of it, check out their website. They’re currently running a 20% sale to celebrate their 7th anniversary! Happy Anniversary, guys! Skål!

Drop your favorite Gym Tunes in the comments! 🎶💪🏻🏋️👟🤘🏻🎵🎧

What inspires and motivates you in the gym? For me, the right music is absolutely critical to having a successful workout if I’m on my own. Your music choice should be something that makes you want to move, drives you to push yourself.

Personally, I’m a metal fan when it comes to music, and the Viking Metal Gods have made it into virtually every workout playlist I have for years. Today, I finally purchased a copy of their 2019 album and noticed this detail on the rear cover. The resemblance to this dude in the Shield Wall makes me grin, and I’ll be sure to continue to include songs from this album on my playlists in the gym.

Hi, everyone! I’m Pat. To a lot of my friends and family, I’m also known as, “Patman.” I want to tell you a little bit about myself. I’m 34 years old, I’m an American living in the U.K., and I’m studying to become a Personal Trainer. By the time I complete my program, I’ll be certified in Gym Instruction, Personal Training, Lower Back Pain Management, Obesity Management, and Nutrition. I’ll also be qualified for GP Referral. I like heavy metal, cosplay, Norse history, and fitness. I’m married with 2 kids, and I’ve got a crazy Puppy named Trooper.

Three photos of me, three very different stages of my life.

23. A couple months before I got married, and I was in arguably the worst shape of my life. I weighed 285lbs (that’s 20.35 stone or 129.27kg).

25. My daughter’s 1st birthday. I had promised her the day she was born that I was going to get healthier, take better care of myself, and try to be there for her for as many years as possible. Fitness isn’t just about us, it’s about those we love and those that love us. I weighed about 250-260lbs (that’s roughly 18 stone, or between 113 and 118kg), having made a small amount of progress. This was achieved by small changes to diet, drinking less, and doing more walking.

34. We’ve taken a leap here. Don’t worry, I’ll go back and fill in the spaces at some stage. My current weight is 188lbs (13.4 stone, 85.2kg). The facial hair is obviously vastly superior to the two previous photos, but I digress.

I started taking fitness seriously in 2014. I spoke to people who knew more than I did, and it began there. I had to change my eating habits, and make time for fitness.

I want to show people that it is never too late to improve yourself, and I want to help people make that change in their life. It *is* possible to lose weight, to get in shape, and to find confidence in yourself that maybe wasn’t there before. I’ve been there, and I’m still working on my progress to this day.

Everyone will have different challenges, but let’s not let that stop us. As you get to know me, I’ll share with you some of the challenges I continue to face and how I handle them when it comes to keeping fitness as an essential and uncompromising part of my life.

Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to keep checking in! I’ll be posting updates on my progress for both my qualifications and my own fitness progress over the coming months, building up to that moment where I’m ready for my first client. Will it be you?
