Hi, everyone! I’m Pat. To a lot of my friends and family, I’m also known as, “Patman.” I want to tell you a little bit about myself. I’m 34 years old, I’m an American living in the U.K., and I’m studying to become a Personal Trainer. By the time I complete my program, I’ll be certified in Gym Instruction, Personal Training, Lower Back Pain Management, Obesity Management, and Nutrition. I’ll also be qualified for GP Referral. I like heavy metal, cosplay, Norse history, and fitness. I’m married with 2 kids, and I’ve got a crazy Puppy named Trooper.
Three photos of me, three very different stages of my life.
23. A couple months before I got married, and I was in arguably the worst shape of my life. I weighed 285lbs (that’s 20.35 stone or 129.27kg).
25. My daughter’s 1st birthday. I had promised her the day she was born that I was going to get healthier, take better care of myself, and try to be there for her for as many years as possible. Fitness isn’t just about us, it’s about those we love and those that love us. I weighed about 250-260lbs (that’s roughly 18 stone, or between 113 and 118kg), having made a small amount of progress. This was achieved by small changes to diet, drinking less, and doing more walking.
34. We’ve taken a leap here. Don’t worry, I’ll go back and fill in the spaces at some stage. My current weight is 188lbs (13.4 stone, 85.2kg). The facial hair is obviously vastly superior to the two previous photos, but I digress.
I started taking fitness seriously in 2014. I spoke to people who knew more than I did, and it began there. I had to change my eating habits, and make time for fitness.
I want to show people that it is never too late to improve yourself, and I want to help people make that change in their life. It *is* possible to lose weight, to get in shape, and to find confidence in yourself that maybe wasn’t there before. I’ve been there, and I’m still working on my progress to this day.
Everyone will have different challenges, but let’s not let that stop us. As you get to know me, I’ll share with you some of the challenges I continue to face and how I handle them when it comes to keeping fitness as an essential and uncompromising part of my life.
Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to keep checking in! I’ll be posting updates on my progress for both my qualifications and my own fitness progress over the coming months, building up to that moment where I’m ready for my first client. Will it be you?
