Hello friends. Sorry you haven't seen much of me. I fell down the stairs and got quite broken up! I am out of hospital now but have a while to go before I am on my feet. Gerald Spike Peachey Here is a note that I have put off writing for days. When I was a child in our penal system, n the olden days, before the young offenders act, I was serving the ridiculous amount of time given to a child by our system. It was al very frightening as I was spending my formative years nin a building full of killers.

Gerald Spike Peachey One day this as***le, who regularly beaked off about not liking kids and kids don't belong in the same jail, like I had a choice! Anyway he approached me one day and told me that today was the day I was leaving and I was to pack my s**t and get the f**k off the tier! I was terrified, but not stupid, I knew if I left that tier it would be a negative that would follow me forever.

Gerald Spike Peachey I sat in my house sharpening my shank, crying and shaking at the same time. I am not a violent person by nature, but there are times in life that I a have been pushed into it. On that day it never had to happen because a good friend of mine walked by my cell and he could see that I was upset. He asked what was up. I tried to say nuthin but he wasn't buying' it. So, I told him. He asked what I was going to do. I showed him my my shank and told him that I was going to plunge it into the as***les throat! He said, the f**k you are, you want to turn this into a life bit? I said of course not but I did not know how else to handle it. It turned out my friend was the biggest guy in the whole joint because all he did was work out. he said c'mon we will deal with this right f**king now. I followed, not knowing what would happen. We went to tv room and the as***le was there watching tv. My friend walked in and shut the tv off. The as***le stood up and said I was watching that. My friend gave him a straight arm shove that sent him all the way to the back of the tv room on his ass. My friend said I got something to say. You see this kid, and he points at me. he didn't wait for an answer from anyone. He continued. This kid is a very good friend of mine and I am just telling everyone here that if anything , and I mean anything should happen to him, i will go to the boot rack, put on my work boots and people are goin' to the f**ken hospital got it. He then walked up to the as***le and asked him point blank do you f**king got it!/ I got it, I got it was the response that was not nearly in the voice he used to talk to me with. The reason I bring this up is that this happened almost 40 years ago and my friend passed away the other day. A lot of you knew him. I have been lucky enough to call him my friend for most of my life. His Name is Dave Greenwood. He is one of the finest human beings I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, and I just want to say rest in peace Dave, I love you and I miss you, and I am so very grateful that I have been lucky enough to call you my friend for all of these years! That day you quite possibly saved me from a life bit but our friendship continued through the years. Recently Dave was a guest on my podcast here is the link.

The Anti-Stigma Zone Story

The Anti-Stigma Zone is something I created in Vancouver B.C. Canada. After a life threatening accident, I was treated so very poorly by a major medical facility because of lifestyle choices I had made earlier in life. As I recovered, I noticed that I was not the only person to experience this stigma. In health services, unfortunately, it is a major issue. When I was finally able to return to work, I knew that I wanted to address this issue. With the Support of Nurses sand Nurse Practitioners of B.C., I created Anti-Stigma workshops for folks in health services. They were very well received by all, especially by nursing educators and students. In 2018 I was given a Nursing Excellence Award for my Anti-Stigma Efforts. I have since moved to an inter-professional model, once again with the full support of Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of B.C., to make The Anti-Stigma Zone available to any and all that feel they might see benefits from it. I am in the process of putting together a digital library of video training sessions that educators, and anyone else for that matter, can utilize to provide Anti Stigma coaching to their group.(See Offers)

This is a work in progress and the library will be always growing to include different training scenarios. Hatred is rampant in our society today, in many forms, on many levels. So far I have put together workshops that address stigma with mental health and addiction, poverty, cultural stigma as well as sexual stigma. As I run across different stigma situations they will be addressed and available in the Anti-Stigma Zone. Right now, customers have the advantage of having training scenarios tailored to their specific needs. As we move forward the Anti-Stigma Zone library will continue to expand.
