Combat cognitive decline and strengthen your bones by trying new activities that bring you joy, perhaps practicing yoga or cooking a new recipe, such as this Fall Veggie Slaw.

For some, just buying these ingredients -- rutabaga and red cabbage - might be a new experience. Both veggies are in season (and I received both via Lancaster Farm Fresh) and full of health benefits. Both veggies contain antioxidants, which help reduce health risks such as cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis.

I recently visited the Adirondacks where I hiked up Mt. Van Hoevenberg, an Olympic athlete training destination.

No, I’m not an Olympic athlete, nor is this my goal.

Yes, I was able to hike almost four miles with an elevation of almost 3,000 feet without hesitation.

My yoga practice is a prime reason and many of the YOGA206 Bone Boost students agree.
Many affirm that they too are more able to move — from everyday movements to long walks — , without hesitation due to a regular yoga practice.

Yoga is one of the most best"exercises" for functional, independent movement.

Recently I walked Storm King, a beautiful 500-acre outdoor museum located in NY's Hudson Valley and is full of uphill, downhill and flat trails showcasing large-scale and site-specific sculpture commissions.

I am grateful to be able to go to the top (and bottom). My yoga practice allows me to walk, hike and climb with confidence. If I fall down, my body is strong enough to get up. This I know is true.
