Mind-Body Edition: Breathe Better, Feel Better 🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️

Chiropractor-Approved Tip:
Deep diaphragmatic breathing supports your posture, reduces stress, and enhances your body’s natural ability to regulate itself — including your musculoskeletal and nervous systems.

Try this: Pause for a minute, place one hand on your chest and one on your belly. Breathe in through your nose, aiming to expand your belly more than your chest. Exhale slowly through your mouth. Repeat 3–5 times.

📣 That’s a wrap on Spinal Health Week 2025!
This week, we’ve been shining a spotlight on Tech Neck – a growing spinal health concern linked to screen time, poor posture, and sedentary habits.

📱 With the average Aussie spending 6.8 hours a day online, it’s no wonder more people are experiencing:
⚠️ Neck and shoulder pain
⚠️ Headaches and upper back tension
⚠️ Postural changes and stiffness

Throughout the week, we’ve shared simple ways to protect your spine and prioritise movement — whether you’re working, studying, scrolling or gaming.

🧠 It’s not the tech that’s the problem – it’s how we use it. Small daily changes make a big difference.

✅ Sit with upright, relaxed posture
✅ Take regular breaks and stretch
✅ Set screens at eye level
✅ Move more, sit less
✅ See an ACA-registered chiropractor for personalised, drug-free support

🙌 Thank you to everyone who joined us in raising awareness during . Let’s keep the momentum going all year long!

👧🧒 Kids & Parents – Get the HEADS UP on Tech Neck!
With more time spent on phones, tablets and screens, kids and teens are increasingly at risk of developing Tech Neck — a musculoskeletal issue caused by poor posture and forward head tilt.

Non-ergonomic setups and habits like slouching on the couch or looking down at a tablet can contribute to long-term spinal health concerns for children and adults alike.

📱 Following the Institute of Family Studies guidelines can help:
⏳ Limit screen time
🚶 Encourage movement
🪑 Promote healthy posture and spinal habits

📱💡 Top 10 Tips to Prevent Tech Neck

Too much screen time? It could be affecting your spine. Tech Neck can happen at any age — but these simple habits can help protect your posture and prevent pain:

1️⃣ Sit with upright, relaxed posture – shoulders down, feet flat 🪑
2️⃣ Track your screen time and take regular breaks ⏳
3️⃣ Hold your device at eye level – no more bending your neck 📲
4️⃣ Use both hands or switch sides when typing on your phone 🤳
5️⃣ Look up while walking – engage with the world around you 🚶‍♂️🌏
6️⃣ Stretch and move regularly – every 10 mins (mobile) or 30 mins (computer) 🧘‍♀️
7️⃣ Set up your computer ergonomically – screen at eye level 💻
8️⃣ Use an adjustable chair – knees slightly lower than hips 🪑✔️
9️⃣ Exercise often to keep your spine strong and healthy 🏃‍♀️🧍‍♂️
🔟 Consult an ACA-registered chiropractor for tailored, drug-free care 🧠💆‍♂️
