I normally don’t celebrate myself, but this was a big one (especially with all that has been going on). Here’s to another 5 years of having my nutrition support certification.

Why have I been silent? The reason for my existence are my 2 children. My 2 budding babies. And when my daughter started acting out and craving my attention, I decided any time I had would be devoted to my kids. They need me more than ever. Lots of things have happened recently that forced me to rethink life and happiness. Although, I still have major stressors going on, my time together with my kids will now be “all in.”
Happy Mother’s Day. Always follow your momma gut and trust yourself❤️

Vaccine doubts?
👩‍⚕️Dr. Marina Khrizman, a pediatric neurologist & BREASTFEEDING mom, recently had her second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Her daughter was born during the height of the pandemic and she previously had COVID. She nursed the entire time, but stating "it was so stressful trying to prevent my 2 kids from getting sick as well."

She has shared:
"Being trained as a pediatrician, I am very comfortable evaluating vaccines & weighing their risks/benefits. Having considered my daughter's safety, I felt comfortable getting the vaccine & continuing to nurse her. The vaccine has been found to be highly effective & safe in the clinical trials. Unfortunately, pregnant & breastfeeding women were not included in the vaccine clinical trials; this is typical for clinical trials in general. So, we don't have a lot of information from those trials for these 2 groups.

Physiologically speaking, it doesn't make sense to me that this vaccine would be of danger to my daughter.

The mRNA vaccine is not a live virus which means that there's no danger of myself or my baby getting an actual COVID infection from it. Any small amount of vaccine ingredients that pass through breast milk (if any pass through at all) should be broken down in the baby's stomach without ill effects.

In fact, there is a possibility that the vaccine may offer some protection to a breastfeeding child. There are studies going on right now on whether breast milk can pass on antibodies produced in response to a maternal COVID-19 infection or vaccination. Breast milk after vaccination may actually carry some amount of direct protection for our little ones against COVID."

What would you say to other breastfeeding moms deciding whether or not to get the vaccine?

"Your child deserves a healthy mama-this is your best way to protect yourself and family. There's a lot of great information and resources to get your questions answered about this."

Thanks to Dr. Marina Khrizman for sharing her thoughts and experience.

When it comes to feeding our babies and toddlers, what’s a win for one mom may not be the same win for you.

Whether it’s getting a pain free latch for one feed or having enough milk for a bottle OR having some milk as a stash OR being able to breastfeed for the whole day, we really determine our own feeding success. The goal is to be happy and thriving.

It’s easy to be overwhelmed, especially hearing different advice constantly – “do this” – “feed like this” – “Only feed for this long” - etc. It’s easy to have self-doubt and to question your parent skills.

If you are battling with an issue and something doesn’t seem right, then follow that momma intuition.

🤚What’s your feeding goal? If you need help meeting that goal, send me a message.

Fun fact Friday. Milk doesn’t come from just one hole

Did you know lactating mothers have multiple holes where the milk comes out from?

There are about 4-20 ni**le pores that milk can come from. Milk comes from many openings not just right in the center of the ni**le.

Do you know what today is? RDN day! 🍒🍓🍇🥬🥕🌶🥗🍩

Today, I’m celebrating Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day. I’m extremely proud to be an RDN, as we provide the most credible food and nutrition information to those who need it most.

March is also National Nutrition Month and this year’s theme is “Personalize your plate”

It’s never too late to start making informed food decisions and develop healthy eating habits - without depriving yourself.

Everyone can benefit from a consult with an RDN and many of us provide telemedicine visits. Get the right info!

And remember, all registered dietitians are nutritionists—but not all nutritionists are registered dietitians. It’s an important distinction. 📷credit 📚source

Happy International Women’s Day! Who are you celebrating today?

Let’s celebrate, not hate on each other. Let’s lift up, not drag down.
💪
Being a woman is difficult, and being a mommy can make you feel so lonely and overwhelmed at times. We don’t have to do everything to be great or successful, especially with our children. So, let’s cheer each other on, encourage one another, and speak kind words.

Who has supported you through your feeding journey?

Can you relate? I’m generally quiet about my personal life and I’ve not been so active on my account recently. This pic pretty much sums up things up, especially the last couple of weeks for me (just add another child to the picture). Between the good and bad things going on in my life right now, I feel like I’m drowning. BUT I have to say I’m beyond grateful for my health and my family’s health and spending quality time with my parents. Who else is overwhelmed as hell? Keep it real. Thanks to 📷 credit for describing parenthood.
