What would be that moment for you?
For my husband and myself, we had struggled with pets in our home. A year ago, our family had to make a decision to rehome our pet since pups was creating enough dander that caused our family to wind up with middle of the night ER visits for respiratory concerns for our youngest. After a few ER trips, we needed to make a decision. Once that was made, we had to prepare ourselves for kiddos reactions. Hubby and I discussed what we were going to tell them and made sure we had buffers for comfort following the news. The conversation was emotionally challenging and we expected a lot of tears, which came no doubt. Even with prepping and planning this discussion, it came with unexpected feelings myself. Not only were we going to have to tell our daughter and son, but navigate grief and loss ourselves as dog parents. It was a tough decision and we were fortunate enough to revoke back to the breeder since pups was still really young. We still talk about Moose to this day and hope he’s loving life with his mom and dad!
