What’s up everybody! Welcome to Seeking Salus, my name is Saptarshi Das but all of my friends call me Dibbyo. I am currently a sophomore at Michigan State University studying neuroscience. My passion from a very young age has always been physical exercise and maintaining a healthy body. This passion was ingrained in me by my parents who come from athletic backgrounds themselves. Exercise and working out has given me an outlet for all the negativity in my life and acts as an escape from reality. But as it turns out, sometimes it is hard to maintain a healthy physical state if you are having problems keeping your mental state healthy. I personally have experienced this issue and have always found myself being very inconsistent when it comes to maintaining my physical well being and I'm sure a lot of others are going through this especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. So over the course of this pandemic and moving forward, my goal is to show you guys ways I improve my physical health, through weight training, cardio, high intensity interval training and nutrition and explaining how it betters my own mental and physical health. With that being said, I welcome you to join me on a journey of Seeking Salus.

What’s up everybody?! My name is Dev Dayal and I’m a senior at MSU studying Human Biology. I’ve always found that one of the best ways to express myself, my thoughts, and my emotions has been through writing poetry. Writing has transformed me in so many ways, it’s taught me how to deal with my emotions, how to analyze situations from multiple angles, and it has even served as an outlet for me to get my thoughts and feelings out without having to actually say any words. I know that for me, especially during this pandemic I’ve definitely felt feelings of angst and frustration over my life being uprooted and having to move from Michigan back to Toronto very quickly. One of the main ways that I have been able to deal with these emotions and calm myself down has been through writing poetry! Throughout my time writing poetry I have had the opportunity to win a few national competitions, publish a few poems, and am now even working on my own book! My goal with this initiative is to not only show you all how to use creative writing to become more emotionally self-aware and take care of your mental health, but to also explore different styles of poetry with you all, and show you how I implement the written word into my everyday life. With that being said, I welcome you all to join me on a journey of Seeking Salus through poetry.
