The guilty face of a dog that got sprayed by a skunk but decided it was fine to come back in and curl up on his mat next to our bed at 3AM last night. I dreamed about funky smells before I realized the bedroom actually smelled funky and I had an hours bath for a hairy dog in the morning. 🙈

Get ready to sculpt those abs with a simple 4-week core challenge! Here's the breakdown of sets and reps to take your core strength to the next level:

🔥 Week 1:
- Plank: 3 sets of 30 seconds each
- Bicycle Crunches: 3 sets of 15 reps each side
- Russian Twists: 3 sets of 20 reps (10 on each side)

💥 Week 2:
- Plank with Shoulder Taps: 3 sets of 30 seconds each
- Leg Raises: 3 sets of 12 reps
- Mountain Climbers: 3 sets of 20 reps (10 on each leg)

💪 Week 3:
- Side Plank: 3 sets of 30 seconds each side
- V-Ups: 3 sets of 10 reps
- Flutter Kicks: 3 sets of 20 reps (10 on each leg)

🚀 Week 4:
- Plank with Knee to Elbow: 3 sets of 30 seconds each
- Russian Twists with Dumbbell: 3 sets of 15 reps (7 on each side)
- Hollow Body Hold: 3 sets of 20 seconds each

We often talk about the importance of communication with others, but what about how we talk to ourselves? Self-talk plays a huge role in our health, fitness, and overall well-being. It’s like the inner dialogue we have while riding—how we speak to ourselves can make or break our performance.

Negative self-talk can be as damaging as ignoring a training issue with your horse. If you constantly tell yourself you're not good enough or can’t achieve your goals, it’s like sabotaging your own progress.

On the flip side, positive self-talk can be a game-changer. Encouraging yourself, acknowledging your efforts, and being kind to yourself can lead to better outcomes, whether it’s in the gym, at a horse show, or in everyday life.

Here are some tips to improve your self-talk:

☑️Replace negative thoughts with positive affirmations. Instead of “I can’t do this,” try “I’m working on it, and I’ll get there.”
☑️Celebrate small victories. Every step forward is progress, no matter how small.
☑️Be patient with yourself. Just like training a horse takes time, so does personal growth.

How we talk to ourselves matters. Start treating yourself with the same kindness and encouragement you’d give a friend or a beloved horse.

Always hungry on a diet? Then you’ll love this…

First things first — you know how when you start to eat in a calorie deficit, you get SO hungry that food is all you can think about?

Well, the plan I’ve created for you virtually eliminates that struggle.
How?

By taking a macro-based approach to nutrition.

“Macro” is short for “macronutrients”, which are carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.

These are essentially the “building blocks” of our diet, and they’re what your body uses for fuel.

So, taking a macro-based approach means instead of focusing on how many calories you’re eating, you’re focusing on giving your body the right kind of calories.

That means rather than just cutting calories out of your diet (which can make you feel tired, hungry, and irritable because you’ve cut down on critical fuel)...

I coach all of my clients using Flexible Dieting Strategies. Flexible dieting can be compared to horseback riding in a few different ways:

Just as a skilled rider must learn to adjust their movements and cues to work with the horse they are riding, flexible dieters must learn to adjust their food choices and portion sizes to fit their individual needs and goals.

Horses come in all different shapes and sizes, and what works for one horse may not work for another. Similarly, each person has unique dietary needs and preferences, and flexible dieting allows for individualization to achieve success.

A good horseback rider knows they can't just hop on a horse and expect everything to go perfectly. They need to put in the time and effort to build a relationship with the horse, learn its quirks and tendencies, and adjust their approach accordingly. Similarly, flexible dieters need to put in the time and effort to learn about their own bodies, their food choices, and their relationship with food in order to succeed.

Finally, horseback riding can be a very enjoyable and rewarding experience when done well, and so too can flexible dieting. Both require discipline and hard work, but the end result is worth it.
