🚨 NEW SKILL ALERT! 🚨

Look who’s rocking that prop sit! 🎉💪 Sitting with hands on the floor for support might not look fancy, but it’s a BIG deal in your little one’s journey.

👏 Why we’re celebrating:
✨ Building strong core + balance
✨ Hands are free to grab and play
✨ Getting one step closer to sitting all on their own!

Every wobble and lean is part of the learning process—and we are HERE for it.

👶✨ Its Tummy Time Thursday! ✨👶

Tummy time isn’t just cute—it’s critical for your baby’s development! Just a few minutes a day (starting from birth, with supervision!) can help your little one build:

💪 Strong neck, shoulder & core muscles
📏 Postural control
👁️ Visual tracking & focus
🖐️ Sensory & touch exploration
🧠 Motor skills & reflex integration
❤️ A nice round head (bye, flat spots!)

🎯 It also sets the stage for BIG milestones like rolling, crawling, and sitting!

Tips:
➡️ Start small & build up
➡️ Use toys, mirrors, or your face
➡️ Try tummy time on your chest or lap if baby resists

Need support? Pediatric OTs have tons of ideas to help make tummy time fun and effective!

Early intervention through occupational therapy can be life-changing. Therapy focuses on building the foundational skills in everyday activities with greater ease and independence.

Here’s how OT helps young children with fine motor difficulties:

Hand strength – using play-based exercises to build the muscles needed for grasping, holding, and manipulating objects

Grasping skills – improving the ability to hold toys, feeding tools, and crayons, even with muscle tone differences

Bilateral coordination – encouraging the use of both hands together through fun, purposeful activities like stacking, pulling apart toys, clapping and even holding the handle bars on a tricycle!

Hand mobility – increasing range of motion and finger control through sensory play and guided movement

Muscle tone management – helping regulate high or low tone through targeted stretches, positioning, and sensory strategies

Every child has unique strengths and challenges, and pediatric OT meets them where they are — helping them grow, play, and achieve their milestones with confidence and joy!

Today was one of those beautiful reminders of why we do what we do.

Words weren’t needed—her smile said it all! In pediatric OT, communication takes many forms. Sometimes, a smile is the loudest voice in the room—and it speaks volumes about trust, success, and the power of therapeutic play.

Who knew a plastic knife and some kinetic sand could hold so much magic? ✨🔪

At Little Pines Pediatric Therapy, we use playful tools like kinetic sand to build real-world knife skills—because independence starts in the small moments.
Whether it's slicing pretend cheese, cutting play dough, or practicing with soft fruits, these engaging activities support:

✋ Hand strength & control

🤲 Bilateral coordination (both hands working together!)

🧠 Motor planning & confidence

✅ Safe tool use

💪 Emotional regulation through mastery

Knife skills = life skills 🥪
And when kids get to explore with curiosity and joy, they don’t just learn—they light up.

Occupational therapy isn’t just therapy—it’s empowerment disguised as play 🎉

Let’s raise brave, capable kids who trust themselves with every slice. 🫶🏼

Helping Kids Build Independence—One Toothbrush at a Time!

Brushing teeth may seem like a simple task, but for many children, it can be a daily challenge. Pediatric occupational therapists are here to help!

From holding a toothbrush correctly to managing the sensory experience of brushing, OTs work with kids to develop the skills and confidence they need for independent self-care.

Through play-based strategies, routines, and a little creativity, we help turn tricky tasks into achievable habits. Because every child deserves to feel proud of what they can do!

If your child struggles with daily routines like brushing their teeth, we’re here to support you.

Let’s build independence—one small step at a time.

We are so happy and grateful that we are able to sponsor the Spring 2025 Champions Team with Bastrop Youth Baseball & Softball Organization! I have a passion for the special needs community and youth sports. What truly fills me with purpose is finding ways to make that experience inclusive for everyone, especially the incredible individuals in the special needs community. April is Occupational Therapy Month!
We're celebrating the incredible impact of pediatric occupational therapy—where play meets purpose!

Every day, pediatric OTs help babies, toddlers and children build the skills they need to grow, learn, and thrive. From improving fine motor abilities to enhancing sensory processing, they support kids in becoming more independent, confident, and capable.

Whether it’s playing on our belly, using a spoon for fork during mealtimes, zipping a jacket, holding a pencil, or navigating social situations—our OTs are making a difference, one milestone at a time!

Join us in celebrating the creativity, compassion, and dedication of pediatric occupational therapists this month and every month.
Thank you for helping little hands do big things!
