I have a question for you
As we enter this winder season, what does rest mean to you?
A few days ago I thought I was going crazy. Loud chatter in my head, body aching, little to no patience, not wanting to interact with anyone or do anything. And then, that evening, I went to sleep early. Instead of doing more around the house, getting food ready for the next day, checking phone, doing anything else or for anyone else, I took my tired self and LAID DOWN. I just laid down. And I slept. And then I woke up to help baby. And then I slept some more. And this happened for a good 11 hours.
I haven't forced myself to lay down that long in probably 9 months.
But what happened when I woke up? I WANTED to get out of bed. My head was clear. My body felt good. I was excited for the day saying modei ani. I was alive.
Sometimes we just need rest.
And that can look different for everyone. Sometimes its a nap, or going for a walk, or journaling, or turning the phone off....talking to a friend, asking for help, planting some seeds, dancing..
Sometimes its about laying down. Surrender. Trust beyond your own abilities and control. Knowing the energy and ability to do and give will come from the inside out.
And then, something magical happens. We mirror the world in which we've been created.
This is what nature does. Winter hibernation feed spring showers and summer fruits. The deeper the slumber, the pause of life, the more life there is to come when the sun rises again.
The moon, as well. The waning, the newness, the waxing, the fullness. We are all of it. And in our lives, when we flow with this rhythm, we too become whole.
So, what does rest mean to you?
