great things to come and I'm getting so excited that things might start to become a little easier for Ripley so as you all know Ripley has a cgm, right now he uses a Dexcom g5, and we love it but it still means he needs finger pricking (not many but some) well, there is a g6, its not yet NDSS funded and that's ok but that one doesn't require finger pricking, now both the g5 ang g6 require you to lug around a phone or a reader which is a pain in the ass for young children and educators like teachers and aids and whilst you can still get readings if you have a watch, you will only get these readings if the cgm phone or reader is in range with the wearer of the cgm, well, now they have the g6 (hopefully one day covered by ndss) this bad boy now runs directly to a watch which means it ditches the need to carry a phone around and the wearer of the cgm can just wear the watch! i think this is fantastic.
Now onto something i think is even more exciting is, around 10 years ago i believe they approved a tubeless pump for Australia (Which America have been using this whole time) called the Omnipod. I read about this device on day 2 of Ripley's diagnosis and was devastated to find out that after 9 years they still hadn't stocked this in Australia yet, However yesterday i read that all that is about to change and they are releasing it sometime this year and we are here for it, for a while i was considering a pump that had tubes and had to be lugged around but i really wasn't a fan but this Omnipod for 12 months I've been watching American diabetic tiktockers/youtubers/instagramers and ive just wanted this more and more for Ripley. I have no idea how much it will costs if its not covered by NDSS but I've signed up for emails none the less and hopefully its something we can look at in the near or distant future but regardless its progress and I'm here for it!!
