"People with a sense of purpose live longer, have more friends, better relationships, and more happiness." (David Giertz).

This is such a BIG element in our lives. I have met more people where this is the "root cause" to a lot of their underlying challenges. But, time and again we seek out "answers" or "solutions" around the perimeter of the circle (i.e., our TRUE self; who we really are and what we are doing here) of our self only. And, to a large extent it has nothing to do with financial wealth. In fact, I have worked with a lot of individuals who will tell me, "I have the money I need and I am still not happy. I am bored with my life. Is this it?"

PURPOSE is an essential key to our lives. Unfortunately, our society-culture to a large extent has ingrained within us that it is wealth and materialism that matter. Remember the encouragement you received from people who told you, "Go get a good job" or "Go to school to study hard so you can get a good job one day." Now, you may hate the job your in, have the money you need but feel "something" is missing in your life. This is but ONE example of where PURPOSE comes in...because it can impact all facets of our life on all levels (body, mind, spirit).

Where are you in your life right now? Do you truly know your purpose and are you happy?

If you are ready...AND willing...I can help you sort out these things to assist you on your path to finding your true purpose in life that can impact all facets of your life.

"Sleep is the Swiss army knife of health. When sleep is deficient, there is sickness and disease. And when sleep is abundant, there is vitality and health" (Matthew Walker)

SLEEP

“You have got to sleep. Not 4-6 hours of sleep. No sleeping with the television on. Real, legit sleep. I realize that this may be impossible for some people due to their current stage in life. You may be a new parent, or perhaps you really truly can’t get to sleep. But you have got to try your hardest. Lack of sleep can contribute to obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes. It kills the s*x drive, leads to depression, impairs judgement, and worst of all, makes you look old.

I’m allowing myself to sleep. A lot. Some nights I’m in bed by 8pm. I get up at 5am most days, but I’ve even changed how I wake up. There’s nothing worse than being rudely awakened by an obnoxious iPhone alarm that immediately puts you in fight or flight mode. I use an app that uses Tibetan singing bowls as an alarm. It’s the best.

Sleep in the dark. Keep your phone out of your bed. Smudge before you go to sleep. Get a weighted blanket. And if you have a hard time sleeping, employ some herbs to help; Passionflower, california Poppy, skullcap, valerian, even good ole chamomile can help bring you down. There aren’t enough herbs or workouts or clean diets to replace adequate sleep.”

FRIDAY PLANT!

Yes, yes, yes….I usually talk about trees even though I am very much in communion (perhaps more so) with plants!! By the way, trees are BIG plants!! Ok, today I will briefly discuss an amazing plant… ASHWAGANDHA.

*Disclaimer: Statements regarding dietary supplements have not been evaluated by the FDA and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition. Please consult a medical professional in regards to dosage.

Ashwagandha is one of the oldest herbs in existence. It is considered the king of the plant kingdom, this herb has been used for thousands of years in ancient practices to treat the immune system, boost energy levels, and even combat stress in the body.

1. Supports the immune system

The first benefit of using Ashwagandha is that it is good for building and strengthening the immune system. This is thanks to its powerful antioxidant properties that help to encourage the production of white blood cells in your body for a stronger defense against illness. Ashwagandha has natural anti-inflammatory properties, which aids in reducing inflammation, such as in arthritis or sore joints.

Trust us, there’s a reason that this plant has often been called rayasana, which translates to “the plant that rejuvenates” in Ayurveda, and that’s because this herb is truly healing beyond belief. So say good-bye to the pains of aging, because Ashwagandha has definitely got you covered.

2. Eases tension and stress

Ashwagandha is also believed to be able to help calm your nerves and ease stress. This is thanks to its’ natural sedative properties, which help calm the heart rate and blood pressure, releasing tension in your body and putting you in a calm and meditative state of mind. It’s basically like going to therapy but without the trip or the bill.

3. Increases your energy

Lastly, Ashwagandha is the perfect partner for a workout, as it can help to improve your athletic performance significantly. This is because this powerful plant has been thought to improve heart and lung functionality. This makes it excellent for those who love being active, but also for those that may struggle with fatigue as an everyday norm. Who knew an herb could do so much, right?

However, it is important to note that if you are pregnant or nursing, you should not take Ashwagandha in large amounts, as it can cause pregnancy complications. It is best to consult your doctor about the proper dosage beforehand.

Spiritual Uses

Ashwagandha holds many incredible health benefits, but it holds just as many spiritually. Spiritually, Ashwagandha, has often been referred to as the Elixir of Life, as it is believed to help balance your Chi and align your chakra energy.

In conclusion, Ashwagandha is a powerful herb perfect for many uses. Whether you’re looking for physical healing, chakra balance, or even a stronger immune system, just know that Ashwagandha has got your back through thick and thin!

FRIDAY Tree Oracle!

Today I felt intuitively drawn to use the "Celtic Tree Oracle" cards. The card drawn with the message for us is:

TINNE HOLLY

This card is about justice. If you are feeling dispirited, imagine Tinne Holly's bright red berries and evergreen leaves that promise life, even in the dead of winter (think: are you in someway going through your own "winter" on some level). This tree promises renewal! Tinne Holly reminds us that no matter what we are going through..."this too shall pass."

Tinne Holly suggests to us at this time if we are placing our attention on the darkness in our life, it's time to return our mind to neutral (allowing yourself to move through situations with less judgement and attachment). Breathe in unity! Breathe in wholeness!

TREE TIME!

Tree Populations are Declining Rapidly

There are roughly 3 trillion trees in the world. We cut down 15 billion trees a year. Since the onset of agriculture 12,000 years ago, the planet’s tree numbers declined by 46 percent.

Trees Are Not As Helpless As They Seem

Some trees can produce chemicals to fend off leaf-eating insects and some can emit airborne signals to alert other trees to prep for insect attacks or to call in other species for backup. Apple trees, for example, can attract hungry birds to come eat invasive caterpillars.

Trees Provide Mental and Physical Health Benefits

Exposure to trees and nature reduces mental fatigue and can reduce blood pressure and muscle tension. And neighborhoods with more trees experience less crime. Or, do you live next to a busy road? Plant some trees. They muffle noise that's keeping you up at night as efficiently as a stone wall, all while producing oxygen, controlling erosion and spurring along our water cycle.

Trees Are a (Literal) Breath of Fresh Air

An average-sized tree produces 260 pounds of oxygen per year, enough for two people. One acre of forest absorbs six tons of carbon dioxide and puts out four tons of oxygen. This is enough to meet the annual needs of 18 people.

Trees Bring Good Luck

Why do we knock on wood for good luck? That tradition comes from long-ago pagans who tapped on tree trunks to summon the good spirits living inside.

FOUR OF WANDS/Fennel Seed

Fennel seed knows that you have a subtle need to release the tension and pressure involved in completing a task or project. Importantly, to experience completion before going on to the next task. You might ask, “How do I do this?” One method would be to make time to be together with supportive people and for play. Another message fennel has for us is to allow your talents and skills to flow and be shared. Be unafraid to live up to your potential! Allow your inner light to shine through!

FENNEL SEED

Fennel seed will allow a greater sense of groundedness and joy to permeate your being. Keep a sprig of fennel on you, put it somewhere where you live where you can see it, talk to it! Fennel will help you play with life more and find good friends with whom you can share some fun. Fennel also tells us that you are moving on to the next cycle in your life.

Be safe and well! Happy Friday everyone!

*Part of my mission as a Plant Spirit Energy Healer is not only to promote human health, but plant/tree health as well. This is a circular endeavor and “what goes around, comes around” for our benefit. This is my way of giving back to the plants/trees in return for having me help others. I highly encourage you to have a look at the following websites I have provided a link too following the tree facts. If you feel called to donate in tree planting by one or more of these organizations, the trees would be immensely thankful! And they would return the favor for generations to come!

PLANT/TREE FACTS

What does woody agriculture, such as growing hazelnuts, have to do with climate change?

Woody crops - like hazelnuts - can have a positive effect on reducing climate change.

Recent research and field studies - including those being conducted by the Arbor Day Foundation - show that hazelnuts have immense promise as a specialty crop with high food value. Hazelnuts can also have a very positive effect on reducing climate change in at least four ways:

1. Being a woody perennial crop, hazelnuts leaf out sooner in the spring and photosynthesize longer into the fall than annual crops such as soybeans or corn, making them more effective at capturing solar energy - an important implication for fighting global increases of carbon dioxide.

2. Carbon is stored in the wood of the plants year after year.

3. They are a perennial woody agriculture crop and require little or no tillage, thus decreasing the amount of energy required to grow them.

4. Nationwide hazelnut research is focused on developing blight-resistant, high-producing hybrids to help advance woody agriculture.

Hazelnuts have very dense shells that make excellent fuel and, when burned, create hydrogen that could be used for fuel cells in electric cars. The wood from periodic coppicing of hazelnut crops has excellent potential as a biomass fuel. Availability of hazelnuts as a renewable fuel source could eventually help decrease reliance on fossil fuels like coal and petroleum.
