I’ve been very quiet on my pages recently, not quite being able to find or make the time to post.
As I continue to support lots of children and their families and try to be the best partner and mummy I can, the global overwhelm is real and it feels heavy. 💔
This 👇 resonates so deeply for me and feels comforting to know that I am not alone.
Sharing for all you fellow empaths…we can not carry all of the burdens of the world and we especially can’t help others without taking good care of ourselves first! 🫶
It’s hard to be an empath right now.
So many people are hurting so very deeply and suffering so very much.
And what do empaths do? We absorb it all. We take the heartache and the sadness and the pain and the weight of the world, and we put it on our own shoulders. We wear it like a cloak, and it is heavy.
It is SO heavy.
We are at emotional capacity, and quickly nearing a breaking point.
Lately I’ve found myself short-circuiting. I’ve been going through the motions, but I’m not really there. I’ve been so deeply entrenched in the heaviness. The weight feels all-consuming and too much to carry.
Empaths, we need to put it down sometimes.
I know that’s incredibly difficult to do. It almost feels like cutting off a limb. Because our empathy may be a curse at times, but it is also what makes us so powerful.
It makes us tender and relatable and kind and understanding. It makes us such good listeners and friends and helpers. It’s an extension of our love, and it’s both a burden and a gift.
But we also have to protect our hearts and souls and minds.
So that we have room to absorb the good. And so that we can keep using our empathy for doing good.
In case you needed permission, or an invitation to do so:
It’s okay to put down the burdens of the world.
Because we can’t do anything to help anyone else if we don’t take care of ourselves.
It’s okay to take a deep breath, turn off your phone, and go for a walk.
It’s okay to cancel plans or take an unplanned day off.
It’s okay to rest.
We won’t ever be able to fix all the world’s problems.
But if we make sure to take care of ourselves, we can keep trying.
