Thinking, worrying, wondering, all of these things we can do in the bed before we go to sleep. And they all exist in the mind. So how can we direct the mind to our body? Progressive Muscle relaxation! It is a technique where you bring your focus to each part of the body and “imagine” it relaxes.Try it out. Tip to stop smoking:

The first part is to reflect. Yes stop what you are doing and be honest with yourself. You do not have to hide from yourself.

Ask, why are you smoking and what does it offer you?

So now ask the question.

WHY DO I SMOKE AND WHAT DOES IT PROVIDE FOR ME?

Really, ask this question to yourself and journal it out.

I smoke because__________________. It provides me___________________________.

This is not meant to bring you shame or make you feel bad, just bring consciousness around the smoking.

Once you journal this out, you will look at the real reason you smoke right in front of your face. Come to terms with your truth. There may be a whole list you made of reasons why you smoke. And every time you light the cigarette, this "why" will come into your consciousness. Is being a smoker helping me with my nervousness? Does this cigarette relax me? What else could relax me. Making this list will open the doors for new solutions.

When you crave smoking, you crave what you believe the smoking offers; a break from life, something to do while you are thinking, or in between obligations. To stop smoking cravings, there must be a change in the way smoking is perceived. During a smoking cessation session this is exactly what is done. Using hypnosis, the association with smoking will be changed to one that is distasteful. You will not crave smoking anymore because smoking is associated with bitterness, acidity, and poor health. This is possible to achieve when you are in a deep state of relaxation also known as a trance. You will start to breathe with a full chest and not feel limited. Your cough will not be full of mucus. There will be no more uncontrollable fits of coughing either.

Stop smoking and start taking care of yourself. After experiencing hypnosis to stop smoking, you will begin to crave more healthy foods. You will want what is good for you and it starts to feel natural to pick out foods at the grocery store that actually nourish you. Life becomes more like a game because you passed one of the tests. You quit smoking and this makes you feel proud of yourself. What else can you do that will make you feel proud of yourself? It is one of the best feelings in the world to make a plan and go after it and then get what you want. WHAT IS THE FASTEST WAY TO STOP SMOKING?

A stop smoking hypnosis session takes only two hours, and so this is the fastest way to stop smoking. There is some preparation that is done on the client's end prior to the smoking cessation appointment, and that is a week in advance. So the whole smoking cessation process takes around a week. In the week leading up to the session, I have the clients mentally prepare themselves with a couple of techniques that will lead them into becoming a non-smoker.

The patches may advertise quick relief from cravings, however there are multiple side effects. My clients have reported the patches have given them disturbed sleep patterns, strange dreams, and even insomnia. Not only that but it can take months to work. The hardest part is scheduling the appointment and committing to become a non smoker. It is the quickest way and will replace your silly habit with healthy ones.

WILL STOP SMOKING HELP BREATHING?
What a lot of smokers do to relax and catch a break is smoke. My clients start to realize that the deep breath going outside before they smoke is actually the most relaxing part of smoking. It is not the smoking that relaxes them but the breathing they do when they are on their break.

However when smoking, there is a tightness in the chest when breathing, like you cannot breathe "bigger". The breathing feels more limited especially in high altitude or activities that get the heart rate up.

After smoking cessation, the lungs will begin its detox. All of the build up of toxins and tar will be releasing. Breathing will become more enjoyable and even bring pleasure. Every time you breathe you will be reminded of how good it feels to breathe so deeply. You will be proud of yourself for having the discipline to get rid of this nasty habit, and this feeling of pride will make your chest get even more expanded when you breathe in and feel the pride of being a non smoker.

AT WHAT AGE SHOULD I QUIT SMOKING??

It is never too late or too soon to quit smoking. Because one less day that you smoke is less damage done to your body. According to a study done by the Truth Initiative :

Quitting smoking before 40 reduces the risk of death associated with smoking by 90 percent.

Quitting before age 30 avoids more than 97 percent of the risk of death associated with continued smoking.

For smokers who quit at age 65, men gained 1.4 to 2 years of life and women gained 2.7 to 3.4 years.

Quitting smoking at age 65 or older reduces a person’s risk of dying of a smoking-related disease by nearly 50 percent.

Seems like the answer is before 40. But don't get guilty just take action! Even if you are over the age of 65, it is not too late to quit. You will still reduce the risk of developing a smoke related disease. Of course the sooner the better, and the research shows that it is best to quit before the age of 40 to reduce the most risk. This is a common age to stop smoking because many people have young children and do not want their kids to witness them smoking and also want to stay alive longer to see their kids grow older.

Hypnosis for Alcohol Cravings:

Hypnosis provides a re-set for the mind. The mind is what is craving the alcohol for the reward it is associating with drinking it; relief, liberation or reward. The alcohol has been assigned by the mind as something that will make it feel better. Once it has assigned the alcohol of having these un-desirable effects, it will cease to be a craving for pleasure. During the session the subconscious mind is programmed to associate the alcohol with bitter and acidic flavor that immediately incites a headache. Depending on the client's sensitivity, the hypnotist will even associate the alcohol with disappointment from loved ones.

Hypnosis for alcohol cravings rewires the mind to crave what is healthy for it instead. The specialist will teach the client breathing and grounding techniques to replace the habits. As well as suggestions for snacks.

How Does Hypnotherapy help with Addiction?
Hypnotherapy helps with addiction by working with the subconscious. During a hypnosis session, the specialist brings the patient into a very relaxed state otherwise known as a trance. While in the relaxed state, the subconscious mind receives suggestions from the specialist. It takes these suggestions as real because it does not know the difference between real and imagined. The logical mind does its job in the beginning by questioning everything if it is working, but eventually it surrenders to the journey. The deeper part of the mind is going on this journey into themselves where they greet their younger self inside and begin to feel the void they were previously filling with the substance that used to control their life. It is this part of the mind that treats the addiction and turns its focus into what is healthy for it, instead of harming it. The association with the substance or pattern changes. So it is no longer a necessary habit but instead it is something that holds them back from this stronger version of themselves they felt during this relaxed state.

Hypnosis for addiction is a type of subconscious re-programming and sets the person back to factory mode.

Is Hypnosis safe for Quitting Smoking?
Many people worry about weight gain, and intense cravings after quitting. How would it be possible to quit smoking without loading on more anxiety or another habit of sugar or overeating?

With my smoking cessation clients, I get them mentally prepared even before the appointment. It is marked in their calendar and I have a couple of assignments for them to disassociate themselves as being a smoker prior to their session. So the work starts before the smoking cessation even begins. As with everything in life it is a process and the band aid is not just ripped off without the preparation and planning behind it. The soon to be non-smoker will have the tools and the plans set in place for when the anxiety or stress happens and how they will replace the habit. The smoking cessation appointment lasts two hours and during this time there will be a re-set button that is hit.

There is a reason why the patches tend to not work. They do not take away the mental aspect of being attached to smoking.

After hypnotherapy, the client, will not associate ci******es with a sense of relief. The ci******es will not remind them of calming down, but of a unpleasant sensations. The smell may become unbearable to be around and that is the hardest part to adjust to for my clients. They have to distance themselves from the smoke because they become more sensitive with their senses.

This is safe for smokers to become non smokers because they are equipped with tools and a new association of themselves that places more emphasis on their health.

Replace Smoking with Actually Relaxing
We do not all have the skill of being able to relax easily. That is why so many turn to smoking. We think it helps us relax when isn't it just about going outside and taking a deep breath of air while observing the day?

To practice relaxation, we have to practice being present. For a lot of smokers, they are planning for the future or thinking about what they have to do. That is why training your mind to be present is a new skill.

First declare where you are. If you find yourself wandering off while being present. Say in your head your name and the location of where you are in that very moment to signal to yourself that is where your attention needs to be instead of in a worry or memory. I am ______. I am in ______.

Next, notice the physical sensations. How do the clothes feel on your body? is the cotton soft on your skin? What about the metal of your watch or jewelry? Take inventory of what is touching your body. How does the chair feel under you? Or the shoes or ground under your feet? This is a simple way to bring the attention back to being INSIDE of your body instead of scattered in thoughts. Once we start to build more habits of being in the present moment, anxiety will not be as prevalent because a new skill set will begin to take over.

Smoker or non-smoker I invite you to take this baby step of learning to be present and release anxiety along the way by being in the moment.

Hypnotherapy to stop smoking costs usually between $200-$500, USD and if there multiple sessions it can cost upwards to around $800. My fees are on the lower end of $250, but will probably be raised very soon due to the rising cost of everything. Some people remark that hypnosis is expensive, however it is a special skill that takes a long time to master and a lot of energy to prepare for the client.

Smoking is also expensive, and this cost is the same as a month of buying ci******es. It is difficult to understand the value of hypnotherapy until you experience it for yourself. It is going on a mental vacation and coming back with the benefit of no cravings. If you were to book a weekend at a retreat center, with gas, and paying a coach to help you get motivated to quit, the cost would be more than $2000. So the cost for hypnotherapy to stop smoking is a great value considering you can complete the process in 2 hours and it can be done from the comfort of your own home. Consider the training and dedication your smoking cessation specialist needs to hold the space for you as a client to become smoke free and the money you will save after the session, so this price becomes a bargain for a new life.
