There is something to learn in every single aspect of life it depends on you whether you choose to learn or not ✋

🔵In order to help patients understand their pain we need to try and breakdown what got them there in the first place!

⚪It does not matter how good the therapist you see is, if we are unable to learn from previous mistakes the likely hood is patients are likely to present with the same presentation again and again❗

🔵Our role as Osteopaths is to get you out of pain, educate and provide you with the tools to limit the pain coming back.

PREVENTION IS CURE 🤯

🔵 Postural analysis and the ability to recognise specific patterns in muscle behaviour and mobility limitations, is what allows us to achieve the results that we do!!

⚪️ Alex came in presenting with a chronic history of long term shoulder pain and restriction. Exacerbated with pain on overhead movements in the gym. After our first session we was able to quickly identify the route of the problem and get him back training pain free again.

💆🏽‍♀️ THE PATIENT JOURNEY 💆🏽‍♀️⁣

🔵 Ever wondered what we as Osteopaths do?Whats entailed in an consultation and treatment session?

⚪️ Its a common question I am asked by lots of patients

🎥 This videos highlights some of the common things we as Osteopaths would carry out in an Osteopathic Consultation.

🔵For us, it’s all about the patients and ensuring that we have the most up-to-date knowledge to give them the best of our abilities.⁣
⁣
⚪️The patient journey is all about communication and care. Remember ⁣osteopaths train for over 4 years to deliver the best medical care

😩Struggling with an injury at the moment why don't you get in touch?

Happy Monday

Practice makes perfect

🔵 Did you know Osteopaths undertake over 2000 clinical hours of medical training performing and perfecting Osteopathic Techniques to ensure the highest quality of treatment

⚪️ Spinal Adjustements are one of many techniques we incorporate into our treatment sessions to help bring the best results for YOU! 😄

🔵 Here are a couple of variations I use often in my clinic to help encourage more mobility into restricted areas of the spine 🙌🙌

Our bodies will always adapt to the stresses and demands we place upon it on a daily basis

🔵 Whether you are working from your desktop at home or slouching in front of the TV watching your favourite Netflix show

⚪️ We see this postural presentation daily amongst our patients. The good news is both YOU and I can do something to help stop this from occurring.

🔵 Treatment modalities such as joint mobilisations, spinal adjustments, soft tissue release alongside a strong mobility and rehab plan, can go a long way to helping you to function better and prevent pain and discomfort

Post partum osteopathic treatment 🤰

🔵 Lovely to catch up with in the clinic last week it’s always a laugh 😊

⚪️ She had been suffering with some upper and lower back issues after giving birth 7months ago! 🤰👶

🔵 We have been helping her regain flexibility in her spine alongside working on some areas to strengthen to help her carry out her everyday tasks looking after the “wee” man 👶

🎥 Here is a little snippet of some of the work we have been doing throughout our session! Looking forward to helping her get back to 💯

Think of your body like a car every now and again it needs a little MOT! Well sometimes so does you 🚙 😃

🔵Shout out for coming into to the clinic for a full body check up and MOT

⚪️Presented with no pain however on assessment it was quite clear he was restricted in his upper body mobility!

🔵After understanding which areas were restricted and needing some mobility we got to work looking to increase..

1️⃣ Thoracic Mobility
2️⃣ Shoulder Girdle Mobility
3️⃣ Spinal Alignment

🙌 Great results and one happy patient 😃

Hitting those hamstrings 💪

🔵 The hamstrings are notoriously the main muscle group we feel limit our ability to touch our toes!!

AND SOMETIMES THEY ARE🙌🙌😁😁

⚪️ These 3 exercises look to 🎯 the whole muscle belly of the hamstring hitting both the top and bottom of the hamstring tendon!

🔵 Look to hold each stress for 10 seconds working with the breath and avoid bouncing! Repeat each stretch 5x on each leg ⏰

🙌Please like/ share with anyone struggling with tight hamstrings 🙏

Know someone with back pain? 🙌 Tag them below! 🏷

🔵 This might just be the missing piece of their puzzle. The Quadratus Lumborum or “QL” muscle is one of my favourite muscles and is often overlooked in its role for low back pain. ⁣

⚪️ The QL is a very deep muscle. It spans from the lower ribs to the top of your pelvis. We see this muscle often overlooked as a cause of lower back pain and have seen people really benefit from massaging and releasing it
⁣⁣
🔵 I’ve personally experienced adhesions (knots, trigger points, call them whatever term you wish) in this muscle so here is a video of some trigger point work 🎯 I use to help release it 💪

🔥TOP TOP🔥

🎾 I have found found that when massaging or going after the muscle with a ball, coming in from the side works best because of how deep it is. You can do this self-massage up against a wall or on the floor with a ball, or you can get therapist like me to help you out! ⁣

TIGHT HAMSTRINGS 🤨

🔵 I am seeing lots of patient at the moment complaining of tight hamstrings and an inability to touch their toes 🦶

⚪️ With the current situation of lockdown and us living a more sedentary lifestyle where we are sitting for prolonged periods of time this causes our hamstrings to potentially become a little bit weaker and more lengthened in its position

HOWEVER

🔵 It’s important to remember although your hamstrings feel tight, it may not be the over riding factor contributing to that!

⚪️ Sitting causes our hip flexors to become tighter which can create weakness in the hamstrings resulting in an inability to feel like we can’t touch our toes!

🔵Reduce tension through the hip flexors and BINGO you potentially unlock that hamstring tightness! 🪄 💥
