Eid Mubarak, friends!
There's a lot of sweet foods on offer on Eid-ul-Fitr and like over 101 million people in India who have ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, probably you are also finding it difficult to decide what to eat and what not to.

Enjoy the traditional meals and sweets but balance them with nutritious food as well. Have proteins, whole grains and fruits. Add vegetables also to your main meals of meat.

Amidst the celebrations, it is easy to forget to stay hydrated. Since you may be eating salty or sweet food more than usual, you need to drink sufficient water to stay hydrated. Carry a bottle of water with you. Make sure you have at least 8 full glasses of water, herbal tea, or other unsweetened drinks throughout the day.

It's Eid and just because you have diabetes, it does not mean you should not taste any of the delicious food. Do not eat quickly or overeat. Stay mindful. Take smaller portions. Eat slowly and savor each bite. Listen to your body when it says you are full.

It is fine to indulge in sweets during Eid celebrations. But moderation is the key. Limit the intake of food that is too sugary. Explore healthier versions of traditional sweets made with less sugar or with healthier ingredients such as nuts and dried fruits.

You must find ways to burn the extra calories in your food. During Eid celebrations it may be difficult to find time for enough exercise. But try adding group activities and sports during family gatherings to help you shed some of the calories.

It is important to stay mentally healthy too. So, stop being guilty about consuming too much of unhealthy food. Do something about it and do your best. Be grateful for the family and friends you get to celebrate Eid with and find ways to have a healthier Eid celebration.
Eid Mubarak once again.
