Schools talks

Laura is an experienced Pastoral Lead and Mathematics Teacher. She has worked across the state and independent sector, overseas and in the UK. Her passion for helping students improve their Wellbeing has seen her seek out training from some of the countries leading psycho education experts. She helps schools, students, staff and parents by giving them an understanding of our human needs and how our brains work. As a Psycho-educationist she delivers talks and workshops across schools. Laura can deliver bespoke mental health training relevant to staff roles as part of the ‘whole school approach’ to mental health.

The ideas can be extended to form a simple frame work that can be used in schools by Pastoral Carers or others to put in to have more informed helpful conversations with those facing challenges.

Laura can also help set up a whole school Wellbeing tracking system to highlight those who might be in need of some early intervention.

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed, unable to sleep or think clearly, with racing thoughts or feelings of irritability and anxiety?

Being mentally stretched is good for us – our bodies are well-equipped to deal with short-term, unexpected challenges – and it helps us to solve problems, build relationships and to learn and develop. But sustained pressure – perhaps caused by an unhealthy working environment, today’s target-obsessed education system, or the recent challenges created by Covid-19 – can lead us to suffer from chronic stress, and this can be mentally and physically harmful.
