Land Listening on Spot Loan. On this hill in 1661 Elspeth Yester, Margaret Moffatt, Margaret Elleot, Margaret Nisbet, George Watson and James Jonstoun were burned as witches. Many indigenous and ancient cultures believe trees hold memories and are linked to their ancestors. Including Māori and the Celts. I spent time with a few trees old trees there. Many dying and being hollowed out leaving holes to peer through making me think of the myth of hag stones and being able to see an alternate world through them. What if we could imagine an alternate world where women were not singled out and persecuted for not conforming to a particular standard. What if we couldn’t imagine a society where women’s voices carried the same weight as men

Land Listening on Spot Loan. On this hill in 1661 Elspeth Yester, Margaret Moffatt, Margaret Elleot, Margaret Nisbet, George Watson and James Jonstoun were burned as witches. The people chose high points so as neighbouring towns would see and view them as godly. Many indigenous and ancient cultures believe trees hold memories and are linked to their ancestors. Including Māori and the Celts. I spent time with a few trees old trees there. Working with bitterness today. I found that stone within seconds of getting to the beach and look at its wee tart face. This works all about trust, gut instinct and processing the hard stuff. If we can let go of the grief that we carry, it makes more space for hope, lightness and love. And for holding others who need support.

More stone play. Processing hard feeling by concretising them in hard objects. Feeling the weight of what we carry physically uses the creative thinking and feeling strategy of exaggeration. Which helps me to be mindful of what needs to be transformed/ let go of.
