One of the biggest reasons for my successes in 2021 was that I set clear, concise, measurable goals.

Some felt achievable when I set them, Some felt unrealistical. I missed some of the ones I felt were achievable and hit the ones that felt unrealistical.

The most important thing was that I tracked my progress throughout the year and made adjustments to habits accordingly.

Looking ahead to 2022. And reflecting on 2021. A year full of growth, challenges, opportunities, adventures, hurt, excitement, love, and connection.

Top 3 highlights:

Creating a podcast. With no experience, and I set out to create something full of vulnerability, and lessons from people whose experiences can help others find their purpose, and discover more about themselves.

Creating a consistent way to reach goals:
Consistency has always been a challenge for me. I'd start with motivation, and when that died down, I'd lose momentum and quit. This year was different. I committed to smaller goals, and when they became habit, I expanded on them. Stacking my wins

Making life's problems a learning experience:
I can make a choice to either let life's problems tear me down, or find ways to learn from it. This has never been more obvious than with my relationship to my daughters. Learning what uncondition love is and letting go of the need to get what I give has opened up new possibilities to allow more love into my life.

More and more I've been identifying my anger, or triggers, as a way to protect myself from the hurt behind it.

It brings me to compassion for those who hurt others. For those who lash out at the people that love them.

Learning to be able to love when someone shows their pain through anger or rejection is one of the best lessons I've learned recently.

Lately, I've been feeling like a computer that's downloaded a ton of new programs but needs to restart before they're properly installed. So, now I'm running slowly and inefficiently.

Those programs have been helpful in so many areas. Understand myself and the relationships in my life. Allowing for much better connections, and releasing a lot of control.

Growth is such a motivating factor, and learning to grow is a integral part of being human. Sometimes though, I can put growth ahead of all else, and it makes it feel as though I'm growing because I'm not good enough as I am.

Sometimes, I'm reminded to stop and smell the leaves, to let all the information I've processed settle. To take a break amd restart after being refreshed.

This past week has been challenging, and the more people I've talked to, the more it sounds like a lot of people are feeling that way.

I have been making it harder on myself. I've been wallowing, and self demoralizing. I was also practicing my resiliency.

Resiliency isn't always what I picture in my mind. It's not always doing one more rep, or picking myself up when I fall. A lot of the time being resilient is fighting against my own mind. It will try to trick me into thinking I don't need to push, that I don't really want to accomplish my goal. Being resilient is dropping my own self defeating stories and remembering that I'm the author, editor and main character of my own story.

We're building on her perspective-altering Shift Coaching & Leadership brand to bring heart-led leadership tools, training, and content to the world.
With a simple refresh of her cornerstone corporate leadership course "Leadership unleashed" (formally Facilitator Training). We moved to add new courses for up-and-coming leaders like "Emerging Leaders," and our 200-hour "Coaching Certification." Plus, our online courses help take you from stuck to freedom in your personal and business relationships.
Kicking it all off this week is our new Podcast "Creating the Shift: The Deciding Factor." I completely agree with Matt. The damage that can be done by separating from our emotions is extremely limiting.

Normalizing emotional sharing also normalizes emotional healing. Emotions that are healed improve relationships.

It's not easy, but it's worth it.

Men need safe spaces to heal trauma and other emotional wounds.

This needs to be normalized if we want more consciousness on this planet.

Men need a space free of shame to heal and connect with their emotional body.

Many men have been severed from this part of themselves and one of my life purposes is to bring men back into emotional connection with themselves and others so deep healing can begin.

You have to feel it to heal it, and now is the time we are being asked to feel so we can collectively heal ourselves and all the pain and suffering on this planet.

Over the weekend I was honored to be asked to speak about my experiences as a father by Ashley Diaz of .

It was a fun conversation focused on giving other some insight into the specific challenges I face as a single dad with two pretty much teenage girls.

As parents, I think we tend to be too hard on ourselves, and I hope this conversation helps releive some of that pressure.

was a huge part of my thought processes for years. I understand now that it was a defense mechanism, tearing others down in an attempt to feed my damaged ego. It still happens from time to time.

All it does is keep me from others. It keeps anger, pain, and hurt I my heart. When I activity catch myself in the moment of judgement and consciously think about curiosity, or love, it brings a much deeper sense of peace.

I'm guilty of it a lot of the time. I know that rest days are important. Whether it's physically taking a day off from the gym, or mentally taking a break from the daily tasks I need to complete, and I will still beat myself up for taking them.

Our bodies respond well to rest. A chance to recoup and come back stronger. That is how our muscles fibres grow to become stronger. It works the same in all aspects of our lives, mentally, physically, emotionally.
