Sveda (स्वेद) in Ayurveda refers to perspiration or sweat, which is one of the three essential malas (waste products) alongside urine and f***s that must be properly eliminated for optimal health. This vital physiological process plays a crucial role in temperature regulation, detoxification, and maintaining doshic balance throughout the body. When sveda is produced in appropriate quantities, it indicates healthy agni (digestive fire) and proper metabolic function, while imbalanced sweating signals dosha disturbances requiring therapeutic intervention. In Ayurvedic treatment, controlled sweating through swedana therapy is employed both as a preparatory procedure for panchakarma and as a standalone treatment to eliminate ama (toxins) and restore constitutional equilibrium.

In Ayurveda, Ruksha refers to the quality of dryness or roughness, associated primarily with the Vata dosha and the air element. It plays a crucial role in balancing excess moisture, Kapha dosha, and unctuousness in the body, making it essential for managing conditions characterized by excessive dampness or accumulation. To enhance Ruksha quality, one can incorporate foods and herbs with drying properties, engage in activities that promote dryness like dry massage or sunbathing, and practice exercises that stimulate circulation and reduce stagnation. However, it’s important to maintain balance, as excessive Ruksha can lead to Vata imbalances and related health issues.

In Ayurveda, Manda (मन्द) refers to slowness, dullness, or mildness, often describing a reduced intensity of physiological functions. It is commonly associated with a diminished digestive fire (*Agni*), known as *Manda Agni*, which leads to slow metabolism and inefficient digestion. *Manda* can also describe a subtle or mild quality in doshic imbalances, particularly in *Kapha*-dominant conditions, where heaviness and sluggishness prevail. Balancing *Manda* often involves stimulating digestion and enhancing metabolic activity through warming and activating therapies.
