Connection is key with our children. I recently started changing a few ways I ask my own children questions and I have found that it is helpful. I thought it would be worth sharing, especially as many of us have launched into the school year. Many know that instead of closed-ended questions, it is always better to use open-ended questions. Try adding "wonder" to your questions. Some examples are: "I wonder how your day went today", "I wonder who you sat by at lunch", "I wonder what your favorite experience was today", "I wonder what your biggest challenge was today", "I wonder about a moment that you felt proud or accomplished today"...ok, you get the drift. Try it out. I have found I am learning more about my kiddos’ days by this shift. Have a "wonder"ful week...sorry I just couldn't help myself!
