It took me a minute to decide on my 2025 word of the year. I flirted with this word for a bit, but I wasn't quite sure. Then I started noticing the word WILD everywhere. I kept coming back to it, or rather it kept calling out to me. It means, living or growing in a natural environment; uncultivated; a natural state, primitive. 

I'm not sure exactly why this word calls me, or what it will describe through out the year. The state of my house as I work full time and go to grad school?🤷‍♀️ I do plan to keep shaving, so hopefully not my hygiene or appearance. 😂 But somehow it seems the balanced response to last year's word -  reverence.

The word W.I.L.D. conjures up the emotions I feel when I listen to Florence and The Machine. I'm gonna be free and I'm gonna be fine! Full creative expression!! Let go!! Be free! It's the attitude I want to take on when faced with uncertainty or a fork in the road. These days I have such a need for security, and I look forward vigilantly to secure my sense of safety. Frankly, because I feel weary and overwhelmed, and most of my choices have not played out as planned. But when I was younger I had a little more sense of adventure. I would like to get some of that back! I had more comfort in the unknown. I want to rediscover that part of me again. The part of me that faces discouragement with hope and exploration. Here we go! 🌿🌼

I started graduate school this week! I'm finally doing it, I'm studying to be a Licensed Professional Counselor. This is something I have wanted to do for a long time, seven years, maybe longer. Over the past few years a couple of my clients went straight out of undergrad and into grad school. I couldn't believe how fast their programs went. I'm sure to them it seemed longer, but at this point in my life 2-3 years seems to blow by 🍃. They inspired me. Life is short. Follow your curiosity. For the second half of my life, I will work inside people's heads instead of on people's heads. 😁 God willing.

Reflecting on 2024 with Gratitude,
and Looking Ahead to 2025 with Hope!

I’m grateful for the lessons learned, the growth I’ve experienced, and the moments where I wished I could hit pause and stay in that moment forever. For me, 2024 has been more about overcoming challenges than celebrating successes, but I’m counting the “wins” where I can and choosing to be thankful for every hard-earned step along the way.

As I reflect, I’m taking a closer look at what’s working in my life and what isn’t. In 2025, where can I find new solutions to old problems? From the deep, dusty crevices of my mind, I’m reminded that I have the power to choose how I want to feel each day. Where can I show up with renewed hope and live from the spirit of resilience?

Here’s to moving forward into 2025 with intention, clarity, and the belief that growth and change are always possible.

Some questions to consider:

What brings me joy?

What were some disappointments or unmet expectations this year?

What were the year’s best experiences?

What’s overwhelming?

What do I commit to for next year?

What boundaries will need to be in place to accomplish these goals?

What do I hope to accomplish/create in five years from now?

✨ The future is full of possibilities, and I’m ready to embrace it with open arms. Progress over perfection, a clear focus, and a heart full of personal victories!
