Burnout isn’t just “being tired.” It’s a sign something deeper is out of alignment.

Have you ever felt like you’re “fine” on the outside, but inside you know something’s off?
That quiet exhaustion—the kind sleep can’t fix—might be burnout trying to get your attention.

In Episode 1 of Redefining Burnout, Dr. Tomi breaks down how your relationships—with yourself, others, and your society—shape your energy and well-being.
If you’ve been feeling drained despite doing everything “right,” this is your reset point.

I’m excited to share this moment from my conversation on The Ignition Switch! 🌟

In this clip, I talk about something every high-capacity leader eventually confronts: alignment.
Not the buzzword version — but the real, internal kind that determines how grounded, clear, and purposeful you feel in your life and leadership.

So many women tell me they’re exhausted or overwhelmed… even when they’re accomplishing big things. And the truth is: success without alignment eventually becomes a burden.

Alignment is when your values, decisions, energy, and direction finally agree with each other.
It’s the shift from chaos to clarity… from surviving to leading with intention.

If you’ve been sensing that something “isn’t matching” inside you — this conversation will speak directly to that.

Beyond the Bedroom: Reclaim Your Wellness Through Touch, Talk, and Trust
November 4, 2025

This event reminded me that healing often begins with conversations we’ve been taught to avoid.

Together with the brilliant Karimah Cornelius-Stith, a certified s*x therapist and educator, we explored how intimacy, communication, and vulnerability are deeply connected to wellness. It wasn’t just about relationships or s*x—it was about connection in all its forms.

We unpacked what it means to feel safe enough to be seen, to speak our truth, and to trust ourselves and our partners again. And as we talked, three frameworks came to life:

💠 The Anatomy of Alignment (The Three-Legged Stool): Our lives rest on three essential relationships—with ourselves, with our significant other, and with our work or society. When one leg weakens, everything wobbles.

💠 Touch–Talk–Trust Framework (by Karimah Cornelius-Stith): A beautiful model for restoring safety and closeness—reminding us that intimacy begins with presence, openness, and honest communication.

💠 The 3E Framework – Embrace, Evaluate, Energize: My approach to meaningful transformation—embrace where you are, evaluate what needs alignment, and energize the changes that lead you toward wholeness.

When we align these three areas, healing naturally follows. Because wellness isn’t just about what we eat or how we move—it’s about how we connect, communicate, and care.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us live — your openness and engagement made this conversation truly special. 💛

Let’s keep having these conversations—because when we touch, talk, and trust with intention, we don’t just heal our relationships… we heal ourselves.

We tell people to “take care of themselves,” but forget to mention they’ll need superpowers to survive our fragmented healthcare systems.

Burnout, unaffordable medications, inaccessible specialists—these aren’t just inconveniences. They’re evidence of a failing infrastructure.

When it takes months to see a doctor and costs thousands to stay alive, the system is actively undermining health.

Let’s stop gaslighting individuals and start holding the system accountable. Because you can’t be well in a world built on delay, denial, and debt.

Health is a human right—not a luxury item.

This message isn’t about finger-pointing. It’s not a takedown. It’s a call to action. We’ve got some toxic patterns in medicine—dismissive language, superiority complexes, flat-out disrespect—and it’s hurting people. It’s hurting our patients, our teams, and ourselves.

We’re better than this. We entered this field to serve, to care, to heal. So let’s get back to that. Let’s hold each other accountable—not with shame, but with bold love. Because this isn’t just about how we treat others. It’s about who we become in the process.

Please like, share, repost, and tag your favorite hospital, clinic, leader, or coworker. Let’s spread the message and remind each other: Medicine is about people. Let’s make sure we never forget that.

Food Is Glue. It Holds Us Together

When’s the last time you sat down with your family—phones off, no TV, no rush—and just ate a home-cooked meal together?

It’s wild how rare that’s become. But study after study shows that eating together helps families feel more connected, kids do better in school, and adults report less stress and better emotional health. Even if the food is simple—or slightly overcooked—the act of gathering matters more than perfection.

In my household, meals are sacred. They’re where we talk, laugh, check in with each other, and sometimes cry over pasta. The kitchen is our therapy office. The table is our safe space.

Food isn’t just fuel—it’s glue. It holds families, friendships, and cultures together. So whether it’s scrambled eggs or lasagne, don’t underestimate what a shared meal can heal.

Who or what is stopping you from living the life of your dreams?

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like you’re living someone else’s version of success, it’s time to pause and reflect. The truth is, most of the barriers we face aren’t external—they’re internal. They’re the stories we tell ourselves, the fears we hold onto, and the beliefs we’ve accepted as truth.

But here’s the empowering reality: you have the power to rewrite your narrative. You can choose to embrace your worth, evaluate what truly matters, and energize your life with purpose and passion.

Remember, you are not defined by your circumstances or past choices. You are defined by your courage to change, to grow, and to live authentically.

So, I ask you again: Who or what is stopping you? The answer lies within you. Step into your power, and start living the life you deserve. 💫

You still care. I know you do.

That’s why you’re reading this.

Despite the burnout, the absurdity, and the system that sometimes feels designed to break you—you’re still here.

This article is for you. It’s a firestarter. A hug. A push. A rally cry.

We don’t rebuild systems with silence.
We do it with truth, tenacity, and the courage to be “too much” for the status quo.

Read and share it. Start something.

People often see the TEDx stage and think confidence, polish, perfection.
But what they don’t see is the doubt that comes before the spotlight.

Before that talk, I questioned everything.
Would the world be ready to hear that burnout isn’t just about long hours — it’s about broken connections?
Would people understand that healing isn’t found in doing more, but in feeling more — in reconnecting with ourselves?

I almost didn’t give the talk.
But something inside me whispered: “You can’t stay silent anymore.”

So I spoke — not as a doctor, but as a human being who’s lived through the cracks of her own exhaustion.
And that single act of courage became the beginning of something bigger than I could have imagined.

Over 300,000 views later, the message still stands:
Burnout isn’t a flaw to fix — it’s a story to listen to.
And when we do, we start to redefine what thriving truly looks like.

When my TEDx talk was officially released in January 2025, I had no idea how far it would travel.
Nearly 300,000 people later — and countless messages, shares, and stories — I’ve learned that redefining burnout isn’t just a talk… it’s a movement.

I’ve since presented my findings at multiple conferences, spoken as a keynote on leadership and wellness, and met incredible individuals who are changing how we think about health, purpose, and human connection.

Every time I step onto a new stage, I carry that same fire — that belief that burnout doesn’t have to define us.
We can rebuild, reimagine, and reclaim.
We can transform systems by transforming the people within them.

To everyone who’s watched, commented, or shared the talk — thank you.
To every person doing the hard work of redefining your own life — I see you.
And to the next generation of changemakers: your story matters more than you know.

Because redefining burnout isn’t just about survival — it’s about revival.

Here’s to another year of impact, growth, and purpose.

People see the polished talk — the elegant dress, the lights, the applause — but few know what it takes to get to that red dot.

Before that talk, I questioned everything. Was the world ready to hear that burnout isn’t just about work overload, but broken relationships?
I wrestled with my own exhaustion, my own moments of silence in a system that didn’t always make room for truth. But I knew I had to speak.

That talk wasn’t scripted perfection — it was a call to courage.
It was the moment I stopped whispering my truth and decided to stand in it — fully, unapologetically.

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of sharing this message at conferences, retreats, and keynotes across North America.
Each time, someone approaches me afterward with tears in their eyes and says, “I thought I was the only one.”

That’s why I keep doing this.
Because healing begins the moment we realize we’re not alone.

And maybe that’s the real story behind Redefining Burnout — that our greatest transformation happens not when we have all the answers, but when we have the courage to ask better questions.
