Today is a hard day, emotionally I’m drained. I’m tired. I’m angry, I’m exhausted
But I went for a walk, even though it was hard to get up and get out, and knew I would feel better for it, it was STILL hard.
THINGS CAN BE SIMPLE AND STILL BE HARD TO DO
On a day where I couldn’t show myself love the universe showed it to me 🙏🏼💫

We breathe every day, but vary rarely do we do it on purpose, and I love to do it, as I find it helps me so much
I do them as I’m making a client coffee, as I mix my tint, before I start a new consultation, before I pick up the phone, it’s honestly like being in the salon with death Vader 🤣🤣 but it just helps keep me grounded through the day as well as all the other benefits if listed they I can think of

1. Encourages me to be present and in The moment
2. Slows my heart rate when I panic
3. Decreases my stress levels
4. Reduces my anxiety and slows me to rationalise things
5. Helps me remain calm
6. Helps me see clearly when I need to focus
7. Helps me take a moments peace to assess my emotions
8. It instantly improves my posture
9. It helps me slow down after a busy period in work
10. Helps me think clearly before I speak .
HOW I DO IT? .

There are so many ways to do deep breathing but this is what I do
💕 I close my eyes
💕 Place my hand in my stomach
💕 Take a deep breath in through my nose for a count of four
💕 Noticing my stomach expanding
💕 Hold it for 2 seconds
💕Breath our slowly through my nose or mouth for as long as the breath will allow
💕 and I repeat for a few minutes if I need to
It’s a good place to start if your struggling to find time for selfcare ☺️

The perfect toner formula can only come when I’m not running up my own backside serving 100 clients at a time, without lunch and needing a wee!
I have to be able to think straight to assess what I have on the head and what I need to mix, I need to have time to stand and watch it until it’s perfect. Serving my clients at a higher level and doing epic hair means I have to give myself that time and space to do these things 🙏🏼🔥

I always seem to be the go to for advice and if I had a pound for eveyone time someone said “I wish I could do that” I’d be a millionaire I’m sure
I don’t just practice self care for myself, I try and encourage the team to do it for themselves too💕💓😍
Just a “are you ok?” Or a “have you had a lunch today” is sometimes all it takes to prompt them to think about themselves in a busy environment where all they do is look after everyone else 🥰🥰

Don’t wait until you’re back in the salon to practice selfcare techniques
Practicing selfcare is like your seat belt for life. You put it on in preparation. Then if you hit a bumpy patch, or a crash it will keep you as safe, stable and as secure as possible.
Putting your belt on mid crisis is impossible, just like trying to deal with anxiety in the moment with no practice or knowledge
But by exploring selfcare techniques that work for you now, when you return to work you will know what to do, you’ll know what works for you

Maybe it’s not about balance and life’s one big see saw going back and forth between the two 😂😂
One day run a 10k next day Netflix marathon
One day home cooked healthy foods next day microwave pizza 🍕 (speaking for self-isolation experience right there, too much time and then just CBA 🤣)
One day high energy - one day low energy
A tip I learned from my coach is to always do a high/low, weather it’s daily or weekly. For ever low in the day/week, there’s always a high, and i find it super helpful to find them.
To help me find that balance on the see saw of life! 🙌🏼

I miss you! One of my favourite self care habits! Being by the Sea, probably why I love Beach hair so much, and love doing beach hair! 🤣👀 Thst and you can roll out of bed and call it “beach hair” 😜 love me a low maintenance style
It’s Taken me a long time to discover my “ THING” as a stylist, and took me even longer to own it, but now I have i love it, I know exactly who my ideal client is, I attract them and I know my column is just full of clients that just suit my style and that makes me happy! 🥰🥰 (makes them happy too)

💫 What does the word selfcare mean to you? 💫
For me it’s the act of looking after my self and my own happiness so that I can serve my clients at a higher level
It is something I do deliberately, on purpose, I plan it in!
It helps me to improve my mood, reduce my anxiety, helps me avoid burnout and generally maintain good mental health
How does it look? It’s different every day! Sometimes it’s extra sleep, sometimes it’s a hard therapy session and lots of tears, sometimes it’s a cuddle or a hot chocolate, sometimes it’s time off social media, sometimes it’s me doing a weird tik tok video..... for all those that have seen it.... you’re welcome 🤣
Anyway my point is, no matter what anyone says about self care it’s what it means to you, what does it look like TO YOU!!!!! It can change, evolve and morph but ultimately it’s for you, so you decide
I made a list of all my self care habits, anything that makes me feel better, or more energised, or I know make me feel that “shoulder drop relief” when I’ve done it☺️💕 I call this my little pick and mix.... just because I love sweets 🍬 and I pick and Mix these practices into my day and week depending on how I feel, what feels good how much time I have ☺️💕
