🍽 Put your fork down between bites

🖥 Don’t eat in front of the TV

😵‍💫 For years I tried every meal plan, diet, and point system out there - hoping to find that magic trick that would stop my late night binges and weekend overload of junk food.

🤔 None of them worked because they only addressed my behavior - not the thoughts and feelings that were driving my behavior.

💪🏻 Every Monday morning ⇒ determined to stay on plan.

😈 By Friday night ⇒ “Screw it!” and eating all the junk food I had said no to that week.

🥴 I was exhausted, my emotional tank was empty, and the only way I knew how to feel better was to dive head first into the chocolates and ice cream.

👉🏻 So how did I drop pounds and more importantly find food freedom?

✅ By working through 4 milestones that totally transformed my life - not just my nutrition.

1️⃣ Core Mindfulness - what AM I thinking and why am I thinking that?
2️⃣ Coping with thoughts and emotions - end the emotional eating by learning to accept and manage thoughts and emotions without food

🙁 It's so hard for me to lose weight.

😔 Why is this taking so long?

☹️ I'm don't have time to workout or prepare healthy meals.

😒 Why can't they be more supportive of me as I try to become healthier?

What do these have in common? They're situations we've been in?

I'm going to challenge that.

They are NOT circumstances. They are THOUGHTS.

Some thoughts propel us towards our goals while other secretly sabotage our success.

So how do we get out of our own head that's filled with negative self talk and self-sabotage?

👆 We ask better questions, and

✌️ We intentionally choose thoughts that will produce the feeling we want.

In your head, did you just say, "But I can't control how I feel! I just feel!"?

I hear you, and I get you.

We have built in emotional reactions. When you've worked your tail off, the scale is up, and your measurements didn't budge, you probably feel discouraged, frustrated, and even angry.

But what if, instead of wallowing in those feelings, you let them come like a wave of the ocean, and then, when you're ready, you choose a new thought that will make you feel motivated or empowered?

Essentially, you're finally getting out of the passenger seat and into the driver's seat. NOW you can finally choose your destination.

I've done my fair share of eating enough ice cream 🍦 to drown my emotions.

Because hey, I had a hard day and I deserved a reward. 🏆 I was feeling discouraged so I needed a pick-me-up. Or sometimes I would withhold food to compensate for blowing it the night before.

Been there?

Most of us have. Whether it's chocolate, pizza, alcohol, etc., food has a way of numbing us so we don't have to feel the impending anxiety, stress, lonliness, guilt, anger, sadness, etc.

🥳On the other end we want to feel more of that emotion - like happiness or celebration - so we use food to enhance that feeling.

Sometimes I still have the thought that I'm an emotional eater. But that's just a thought. It's not who I am. That's what I worked on in Milestone #1.

During #2 I worked on using other tools and strategies to cope with my emotions instead of food. My counselor taught me so many great DBT skills that I still use to this day and teach to my clients.

This week, see if you can feel your feelings without using food to either enhance it or avoid it. ☹️🥳🤪🤬🤯😳😮🤐

👉Both of those numbers have been suggested. Regardless of which one is accurate, that's a lot of thoughts!!

🗣The question then is, how many of those thoughts are you aware of?

✈️Or how many are just running off auto pilot?

✈️Where does your autopilot program take you? Does it lead down the worn path of self sabotage, disgust, and disappointment? Or does it guide you to love, honor, and trusting yourself?

💭My point is, before we can change what we're thinking and feeling, we have to FIRST be aware of it.

💭That's why Milestone #1 is awareness of our thoughts, emotions, and judgements. I teach you Core Mindfulness.

💸Don’t pay for tips and tricks.

🥦Tips and tricks are great in the beginning.

🛒Tips like how to organize your fridge and pantry, time your meals, healthy food swaps, and meal prep ideas.

♨️But after a few weeks my fridge and pantry aren’t beautifully organized anymore, my patience for planning, prepping, and logging every bite, lick, and taste is all but gone, and meal prepping on Sunday night is no longer an exciting prospect.

♨️Relying on tips and tricks is like only pulling the leaves of a dandelion w**d. It’ll keep growing back because the root is still there.🌱

♨️This is why most diets fail and 95% of people who drop pounds gain it back within 2 years.

♨️The root of the problem is never addressed.

➡️ This is what I did for years. I tried every diet, 21 day program, and meal plan. I would have success at first, but then I always gained back whatever I lost back shortly after I stopped the plan.

↘️ I wasn’t getting to the root of the problem.

The Mind, Body, Spirit coaching program just concluded after 8 weeks of amazing discussions, learning, growth, and true transformation. This was an invite-only beta test run of my new program, and it was truly remarkable. Some of the biggest lessons these ladies shared tonight were:

✅ Being able to eat fun foods they love without feeling guilty (and still get the results they want like going on hikes without knee pain or their inhaler and steadily losing weight and inches)

✅ Learning how to identify and then honor their hunger and satiety cues and be consistent in their health journey

✅ Identifying and overcoming negative thought patterns, beliefs, and self sabotage

✅ Leaving the space of fears and scarcity and entering the space of gratitude and abundance

✅ Learning to love, honor, and appreciate their bodies for what they are now while still working towards better health and goals they have

✅ Learning how to build their own personalized nutrition plan that's catered to THEIR bodies, lifestyle, taste buds, and goals. AND how to make it sustainable!

These women are truly amazing and I'm so blessed to have coached them! They put in both the mental work and physical work to change how they think, how they feel, and in turn what they do and the results they get.

This right here. 👇 This is everything I teach and coach.

My happiness doesn't come from my situation, but from my thought about the situation. 💭

👉This means the actual act of eating chocolate doesn't make me happy, loved, cared for, or relaxed. It's the thought associated with eating the chocolate that makes me feel happy, loved, cared for, or relaxed. So what does that mean? I can choose that thought anytime to feel happy, loved, cared for, or relaxed and chocolate doesn't have to be part of the equation.

👉This means that it's not the actual project at work that is stressful and too demanding. It's my thought about that project that is causing stress and my feeling of overwhelm.

This quote in on the back cover of my new Mind, Body, Spirit Journal that is almost done printing, and I can't wait to ship them to the fabulous women who have embarked on this journey with me! I am so blessed to be working with these women as we all pursue our best selves 🥰🥰

All these companies have ☝🏻 thing in common. They almost didn’t make it.

They were failing, getting closer and closer to closing their doors and calling it quits.

But they didn’t. They stayed just a little longer. They tried one more thing. Eventually that one thing was their big breakthrough.

I know you’re frustrated with your current results. You keep trying but nothing seems to work. But maybe that next thing will be YOUR big breakthrough that instead of saving your business will save your life.

Your health is worth fighting for. 👊🏻 I’m in your corner, and I’m rooting for you! 🗣🗣
