Inside a 72-hour Survival Kit
A disaster and its aftermath is terrible. We have experienced several traumatic disasters over the past few decades. As disasters cannot be prevented, contingency planning for disaster management involving preparedness, mitigation, relief, and rehabilitation is essential. Even though disasters demand an immediate response, the resilience after it depends upon the level of preparedness. Having an emergency kit at home empowers the concept of disaster preparedness to enable each individual and family to remain comfortable during and after a disaster.
We have prepared a list of the things we should have in our 72-hour Survival Kit, that will guide us upon protecting ourselves and serve as preparation for survival.
1. Food- It is one of the most important parts of this kit. We should bring food that may last long like canned goods and instant noodles.
2. Water- We should keep ourselves hydrated. We should have at least 1 liter of water each day for every person.
3. Extra Clothes - We should have enough clothing to protect us from the cold weather.
4. Battery-powered Flashlight – It is a must to use a battery-powered Flashlight because there might have no supply of electricity.
5. Battery-powered Radio – Just like the flashlight, we must use a battery-powered radio. We need this radio to keep track of the movement of the typhoon with the help of radio news.
6. Whistle – We need a whistle so that we can easily get the attention of the rescuers.
7. Extra Batteries – Extra batteries for the radio and flashlight.
8. Important Documents- Make sure to secure them in sealable plastic cellophane to prevent droplets from the rain.
9. First-Aid Kit – In case of accidents like deep cuts and wounds, we can use the first-aid kit.
10. Extra Money
