Welcome to the Kush Nurse.
If you told me 16 years ago when I became a nurse that I would be advocating and helping cannabis patients I would never have believed it. Why? I was raised in a very anti-cannabis home. My mother compared cannabis to the same he**in and crack co***ne that was killing people in my neighborhood of The Bronx. As a nurse, I became engrossed in researching cannabis and reading all the data I could find. My journey to cannabis medicine started as I struggled with postpartum depression and how I used cannabis to heal. After much trial and error and using the data available I was able to find the right medicine for me. Cannabis is medicine and has been given such a complicated and controversial rap due to its history and political propaganda. But there is so much power in this healing plant from reducing inflammation, to killing cancer cells and helping treat anxiety, depression and pain. If you want to find out the power of cannabis you are in the right place.
Did you know that your body has an Endocannabinoid system and you produce similar compounds to those on the cannabis plant? Just like we need vitamin D from the sun or nutrition; we also need cannabinoids for our body’s homestasis or loosely translated for our body to be in balance.
Like a good nurse, I remind you cannabis saves lives however it can't change your life that part is up to you. Cannabis works best when we use it as a tool and align it with other lifestyle and wellness practices. We can't substitute cannabis in lieu of talking to a therapist, lifestyle change, nutrition, and/or maintaining our wellness through doctors visits and treatments that may benefit us alongside cannabis.
