Domestic abuse is an atrocious assault on someone’s mind, body, and soul. Aside from the emotional turmoil from the trauma victims experience, they also become isolated from loved ones due to the manipulative tactics of the abuser. This can leave victims feeling like they have no one on their side, no one to speak up for them when they are most in need. Often times the legal system will not help.

Why is this? Why do so many police not believe the victim?
Many see victims as weak, invalid, and unworthy of justice. This victim blaming is rampant in the legal system. If a person is repeatedly assaulted by their partner, it seems to be taken less seriously than those assaulted by a stranger: and often, if the victim chooses to fight back, they are told they do not display the character of a battered spouse.
They are left with no help, and no legal consequence for the abuser, and no way out.

This needs to stop.

This page is a place where victims of domestic violence can find support and have someone in their corner. Victims need to know that people do care about them.

You are not alone.
