Great and more importantly honest update about how long the recovery for cancer treatment can be. As ever, early detection and treatment is key. Know your body and if anything changes it's really important to get checked out asap.

Robert explaining why as part of our campaign we're urging everyone to !
Especially at the moment, don't let Covid-19 stop you from getting diagnosed

Unfortunately our plan to do our arctic trek in 2021 has changed, all our original dates for fundraising, arctic training and just training in general have slipped to due the Covid-19 pandemic.
All of us including Robert work within the NHS and all of our planning and social media has been done on top of our day jobs. At the moment, work is obviously more demanding and unpredictable so we aren't posting any updates.
However our reason for all of this and the message we want to promote through all of this... early diagnosis of head and neck cancer is more important than ever. Across the board for all cancer groups, diagnosis has seen a massive decrease during the pandemic so it's important more now than ever to make sure you go seek medical advice if you have any health concerns. Early diagnosis leads to more treatment options and better outcomes.

Meet the Team!!!
This month is Robert Shaw, Patient:
“Families can take many forms these days and mine is no different, but like all families my loved ones mean the world to me, they are what I am. When I found out I had cancer it was a difficult time for us all as I didn’t want them to lose them and they didn’t want to lose me. Back in January when my surgeon told me that I had rare cancer, I asked what else I could have done to help. He said that because its rare they don’t know why I got it ….. I was told I was just “unlucky” …… Well …. I didn’t feel unlucky I felt very lucky indeed I have the love and support of my family, friends and work colleagues together with the best clinical network teams in the world … our National Health Service. Working for the NHS for twenty eight years I see what amazing things we do every day for people …. To then go through this as a patient is a very humbling experience … we have a precious health service with wonderful people who work in it every day. Its thanks to all these that I am still here today being a Dad, brother, son, fiancée and friend”

Meet the team!
Although we represent most parts of Robert's pathway- we don't cover it all because that would require a much larger crew which would be logistically much harder to do.
So a big shout out to all those not covered here. The NHS is nothing without team work, we couldn't do our jobs without each other.
