It’s so easy to forget: never make decisions on a bad day. When things aren’t going well, our emotions can totally take over, and we end up making choices we’d never consider on a good day. The stress, frustration, or sadness can cloud our thinking and literally blind us to the other side of the story (and there always is one).

That’s why it’s always better to just pause and wait it out. Sweat it out if you can. Or nap. Give yourself time to chill the hell out, and when you’re feeling clearer, you’ll make better decisions. So next time you’re having one of *those* days, remember—it’s just the algorithm in your brain glitching, and you can’t trust what it’s feeding you.

“The dizziness of freedom—that’s how philosopher Søren Kierkegaard described the overwhelming feeling we get when transitioning from one stage of life to another. Whether you’re finishing school, graduating from university, changing jobs or stepping into retirement, the choices ahead can feel paralyzing. 🤯

But what happens when the traditional life paths—marriage, kids, the ‘settled’ life—aren’t what you want or don’t happen for you?

Kierkegaard believed that anxiety from having too many choices is part of the human experience and can be a bit sh*tty (not quite the word he used). But it’s also a reminder that you have the freedom to design your own life, on your own terms. Life can look the way you want it too.

So when the traditional path isn’t for you, it’s a chance to carve out a new one—for yourself, and for those who follow. Trust the discomfort, trust the journey, and embrace the freedom to create your own life.

Threats to Leave: A Form of Emotional Abuse
In any relationship, communication should foster trust and security, not fear or instability. When one partner threatens to leave the relationship during conflicts, it’s often an attempt to manipulate or control the other person’s emotions, creating a sense of powerlessness.

This behavior isn’t about resolving issues—it’s about keeping someone in a constant state of anxiety, fearing abandonment.

Emotional abuse comes in many forms, and this is one of them. Healthy relationships are built on mutual respect, not threats.

If you find yourself in this situation, it’s important to set boundaries and seek support. You deserve stability, love, and respect. 💙

Betrayal Trauma: When Trust is Broken

Betrayal trauma can leave deep emotional scars, impacting the way we view ourselves, others, and relationships. Whether it’s infidelity, broken promises, or deceit, the pain of having trust shattered by someone close can be overwhelming. Healing is not linear, and it takes time to rebuild a sense of safety and trust—not just with others, but within yourself.

You will feel hurt. You may feel broken. You are allowed to take your time. Healing happens at your own pace. You may feel like you can never let go of the feelings out of fear that you will be betrayed again.

If you or someone you know is struggling with betrayal trauma, it’s important to reach out for support. Therapy can provide a safe space to process these emotions and begin the journey toward healing.

When life gets tough, it’s our routines that offer comfort and stability. But even in the good times—weekends and holidays—heightened expectations can be hard to meet, leaving us feeling unsettled and dissatisfied. I often hear from clients during or just after these breaks, when the disruption in routine prompts reflection and creates a sense of imbalance. While it’s natural to re-evaluate during downtime, there’s an underrated relief in returning to the peace of our everyday routines—they may be giving us the calm and consistency we truly need.

In a world full of change and confusion, the most stable ground can be found within ourselves. It’s our responsibility and contribution to the world to search for it when we lose it. Sometimes that means asking for help to understand ourselves more.

Doing therapy does not mean you are broken. Quite the opposite!! It shows a deep curiosity and a problem solving approach to life in general.
