Welcome to my new page. I have shared this news with some of my family, friends, and co-workers, but not everyone. I suffer from a disease called Polycycstic Kidney and Liver Disease. I was diagnosed with PKD when I was in high school (over 35 years ago). I have cysts in both of my kidneys, but within the last five years, I found cysts in my liver which is common with this disease. Unfortunately, the cysts in my liver have been growing and taking up space in my abdomen. After many doctor visits and tests, it was determined the only treatment available for me is a liver transplant. I have been under the care of an incredible Liver Transplant Team at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC. At the end of July 2022, I was officially placed on the liver transplant list. Since my liver and kidney function is okay, my MELD score is low, therefore, I am not eligible to receive a transplant until my health declines and my score increases. I created this page to help in my search for a living donor. If I find a match, I do not have to wait until my health is poor, and I can accept a portion of a liver from a healthy individual while I am still relatively healthy. Did you know that if you donate a portion of your liver it will regenerate within about 12 weeks? I will be providing links and information about living donation on this page. In the meantime please think of me, like my page, and follow along as I search for a donor.
