World breastfeeding week is celebrated on the first week of August from Aug 1 to Aug 7. This year's theme throws the light on the shared responsibility in promoting breastfeeding. Implementing Baby Friendly Hospital Initiatives ,providing access to skilled breastfeeding counselling , encouraging employers and communities by providing private areas for breastfeeding are some ways to encourage and support mothers in breastfeeding. Above all these measures ,support from feeding mother's spouse and family makes her stronger in initiating and continuing breastfeeding.
