There are a variety of medical imaging technologies available today, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. The most common types of imaging modalities include⬇️

1- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
2- Computed tomography (CT Scan)
3- Ultrasound.
4- X-ray
5- Arthrogram
6- Myelogram

Each type of medical imaging has its own benefits and drawbacks, so it is important to speak with a doctor or radiologist to determine which modality is best for a particular situation. In general, however, all of these technologies provide invaluable insights into the human body that would otherwise be impossible to obtain.

Here is a little story about how I started my career as a radiologist👇

I went into medical school planning on becoming a surgeon, but my first day on the surgical rotation showed me that it wasn't the right fit for me. I then narrowed my specialty choice to emergency room doctor or interventional radiologist, but I eventually decided on radiology because I couldn't handle the shift work in the ER.🤷‍♂️

Within radiology, I originally wanted to be an interventional radiologist, but I became a musculoskeletal radiologist instead. Looking back, I'm sure that I made the right call.

It's funny how one's journey is constantly changing and you can never know where you will end up. I am glad that I have made the right decision as I continue doing what I enjoy🎯💯

A chest X-ray is a diagnostic test that uses ionizing radiation to produce images of the structures inside the chest. The test is used to detect abnormalities in the lungs, such as pneumonia, lung cancer, and other diseases. A chest X-ray is usually the first test performed when a patient presents with respiratory symptoms.

This chest X-ray was done for a patient for tuberculosis screening purpose. Screening chest X-rays are usually performed on an annual basis. They are an important part of tuberculosis prevention, as they can help to detect the disease in its early stages.

Musculoskeletal imaging is a subspecialty of diagnostic radiology which involves ordering and interpreting medical images of bones, joints, and associated soft tissues.

Musculoskeletal radiologists use a variety of imaging modalities to evaluate their patients, including x-rays/plain radiography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, and PET/CT.

In addition to diagnosing injuries and diseases, musculoskeletal radiologists also play an important role in guiding interventional procedures such as biopsies and injections💉.

Radiology is a branch of medicine that uses imaging techniques to diagnose and treat diseases. Some examples of radiologic modalities are:

✅X-rays,
✅Computed tomography (CT)
✅Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI),
✅ Ultrasound

Radiologists are specially trained physicians who use these techniques to visualize the inside of the human body in order to make a diagnosis.

Radiologic technology can also be used to guide procedures such as biopsies or surgeries.

In other cases, they may be used for more general diagnostic purposes or for screening for disease. Ultimately, radiology plays an essential role in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of many different conditions.

There are a number of incorrect assumptions about scanning technology and radiology in general. Let’s take a look at some of the common myths surrounding radiology and what the truth really is⬇️⬇️

❌Myth #1: My doctor looks at the images to tell me what’s going on?
✅There is a radiologist physician that reviews the images and gives their interpretation of the images and any abnormalities in a report to your doctor. This allows your doctor to have more information to decide what the next steps for you may be.

❌Myth #2 :Radiologist don’t like people
✅While this may have been true long time ago when radiologist had to rely on lightboxes to view images and only looked at x-rays, a lot has changed since then. Most young to middle aged radiologists now actually are very personable and didn’t choose radiology because they wanted to minimize their interactions with people. We spend a lot of time interacting with people just in a different way then the typical doctor.

❌Myth #3: Radiation from diagnostic exams is harmful
✅With x-ray and CT there is radiation used but with diagnostic radiology exams the radiation used is very minimal and gets less and less with newer technologies. You would be exposed to more radiation on a flight across America then most radiology exams.

❌Myth #4: All Imaging Technology Has Radiation
✅Ultrasound uses soundwaves and MRI used magnets but no radiation
