Today marks 5 whole years with my lover boi 🥹😭✨
1,826 days of choosing each other
enough so that we decided to legally and ceremonially honor this union about 2 months ago. 💍

Thing is neither of us knew if we would ever get married, both having resistance to the construct, what it has meant traditionally, unsure if it was the right fit for us.
Something that we have agreed on whole heartedly since day one though is that relationships are a choice every single day. 👀
A very powerful choice that dictates the quality of our lives and the number one predictor of our overall well-being.
It takes two individuals deeply knowing and treating themselves the way they desired to be cherished in relationship.
Then, it’s a choosing everyday how you show up for each other and the relationship
which is ofc a lot easier in the lighter times than the darker times. ☯️
It’s taking the time, space and energy to fill up your own cup so that you can pour into your shared pitcher.
It’s the questions you ask your partner to better understand, the words you share to validate, the conflict you strive to resolve, the support you offer to comfort, the appreciation and encouragement you give to uplift.
The notion that you find “your person” and you’re set or you get married and you’re good, I believe is what drives so many relationships and/or marriages apart. 💔
Being in relationship means putting in continuous effort every day to get to know and more deeply love every inevitable evolution of the human suited soul you’re choosing to ride through this one precious life with.
