In Melbourne for work and we had free time for dinner so took ourselves to for a treat. Great food and drinks, very happy with our choice.

My friend told me about .aus this week and I got bit overexcited ordering surprise bags from . All the goodies in each photo only cost me $9.99 (so i spent $30 and got $90 worth of goods). It's a great way to save money on delicious goodies and also reduce wastage.

I've been wanting to try the MB9+ scotch fillet special at for ages, and finally had it last night. Honestly one of the best steaks I've ever had, and such a crazy good price. Lucky we got one each, as no one wanted to share! We also tried the new chip sandwich (woodfired flat bread with chicken skin butter and sebago chips), which was also insanely good. We added the straciatella with tomato, and I had the ponzu cured kingfish with egg yolk and potato. Such an excellent meal.

is 8 years old! To celebrate they have a special birthday menu where you can choose from classics or new dishes. I went for dinner with . The raviolo is one of my favourite dishes there so I couldn't go past that, and while the duck (new) was tempting I love the steak so went with that classic as well. For dessert though I branched out and got the chocolate bavarian (new) as I love chocolate.

Office day today so went for a wander to .cbr. I had a beef bulgogi bibimbap and my colleague tried the kimchi pancake. We both had Korean kombuchas (pomegranate for her, blueberry for me). It's a cute little spot and the food was good, we'll be back to try more.

Free public transport in Canberra was a good excuse to hop on a tram from Civic to head to Lion City in Franklin, which is conveniently right across the road from the Mapleton Ave stop.

Lunch with at . We both had some of the weekly specials - batagor (fried fish dumplings in peanut sauce) for Wita and sop buntut for me. I would have preferred the sop buntut be made with actual oxtail but it was OK. There isn't much choice for Indonesian food in Canberra so it's good to have a place nearby that's open during the day.

Latergram of dinner at . Tried the Scotch egg with black garlic ailoi on recommendation and it was our favourite dish of the night, though everything was excellent. Other dishes were:
- honey, pumpkin and rosemary soup special
- poutine (pretty good for Australian standards. I'm picky about poutine having eaten a fair bit of it when visiting relatives in Canada)
- Denman Burger
- duck leg, housing, orange, sweet potato, bok choy
- caraway seed honey carrots
- tahini roast broccolini.

Will definitely be back to try more (we were too full for dessert but the desserts sound great) , also love that they are open on weekends after 3pm (so hard to find somewhere in Canberra to eat at that time!).

My friend is in town so we took the opportunity to try out .barton. We went with the banquet so we didn't have to decide and because it sounded good, and it sure was! My friend is Greek so while I liked the food I was particularly keen to hear his opinion, and everything got a big 👍 from him.
