🍓What I’ve eaten🍓 and what you can be eating too, even if you’re not pregnant!

This is how I balance my plate all the time. Fiber, Fat, and Protein.

It’s the foundation to overcoming cravings, food noise, giving your body what it needs so it’s not beggginggggg for what it doesn’t need.

The other important piece: enjoying my food. I prefer to enjoy what I’m eating. I don’t need to *love* it but I need to like it and get genuine satisfaction from it. Bonus points if I love it.

This strategy + using practical mindset shifts to stop overeating is how I found my happy weight (15lbs down pre pregnancy) and how I’ve helped hundreds of clients over the years find theirs too!

I’m taking TWO more private clients! Spots close in 4 days! If you’re ready to find your happy weight without dieting once and for all, comment CONSULT and I’ll send you a link to book your free consultation with me to see if coaching is for you!

✨What I ate for Suhoor✨like, save, and follow .nutritionist for more easy, healthy recipes and health tips

What have you been having for Suhoor?!?

I haven’t fasted every day this Ramadan due to pregnancy but I’ve fasted more days than not! Some of these photos were taken on the days I wasn’t fasting (note the sunlight lol) but they’re all meals I’ve repeated before sunrise on the days I was fasting!

You’ll notice patterns in each of these photos:

1. Protein is always prioritized. Whether it’s yogurt, freshly made eggs, premade boiled eggs, or quick smoked salmon and cottage cheese, there is *always* at least 30g of protein

2. Fiber is always present. You’ll see fiber in the form of avocados and fruit most days! Lavash wraps can also be a more convenient way to throw in fiber. I like when my fiber comes paired with water and nutrients (basically berries and kiwi) but there’s nothing wrong with flax, chia, avocado, etc.

3. Healthy fat is not slept on while I’m fasting! It’s always there and not always in small quantities. If I’m in a fat loss phase (or really just not fasting) I’ll have much less fat at one meal than we see in some of these. But due to pregnancy and fasting at the same time, I don’t shy away from healthy fats to keep me satiated. Avocado, seeds, egg yolks, cheese, and smoked salmon are some of the main fat sources here.

4. Flavor & overall satisfaction is the last thing I prioritize but definitely not the least! Just because I’m eating breakfast at 5am doesn’t mean I don’t care if I like it, I do!!

5. Convenience matters when we’re looking at overall consistency of any healthy habits. I have fast, no prep, easy options for the days I’m tired (smoked salmon and yogurt bowls, pre boiled eggs, etc.) and longer options like fresh eggs when I want a hot breakfast and have the energy. You’ll notice there’s not that many variation in ingredients but they’re just made in different ways day after day. That keeps variety without always needing to reinvent the wheel.

What have you been having for Suhoor?!?

Everything I ate in Miami as a practical nutritionist that loves a little ✨balance✨

Here are a few of my travel strategies so you can have fun but also come back home at a maintenance and not a 5lb trend up on the scale!

✨ 2:1 guideline✨
Keeping 2 meals or snacks completely on path and 1 meal or snack a little more indulgent, not so balanced, and fun if that’s what we choose!

✨Sharing to manage portions✨
When you travel, there might be a lot you want to try and chances are, a full portion of everything won’t make you feel your best. Try it, share it, move on!

✨It’s a Sunk Cost✨
I don’t feel obligated to finish anything, especially something like the fruit smoothie when all you really want is a taste and refreshing feel! It’s a sunk cost whether I finish it or not. I got what I needed out of it and don’t need to force feed myself beyond that.

✨I can have this all, but not all at once✨
Here’s the nice thing about globalization: everything exists everywhere. There’s no urgency to eat everything in this city before I go back home. I will come across these foods again in my lifetime. And if I don’t, oh well. It’s just food.

Let me know your favorite eats in the comments!!

I’ve always said, weight loss is about a whole lot more than just food.

I know it feels like you lack will power and discipline when you’re sitting in front of a bowl of chips and “can’t stop” eating them. And it might be that we do need to work on the discipline muscle, sure. But it’s a lot more than that too.

1. Loneliness: I didn’t even realize I was binge eating because of feelings of loneliness (even in a room full of people I loved).

2. Knowledge & Tools: I see members and clients every day come to me over eating not because they lack discipline, but because they don’t have the knowledge around nutrition to make the right choices.

3. Joy: I always considered myself a generally happy person but didn’t realize at my worst with food, I lacked joy in so many areas of my life.
4. Stimulation: Sometimes its just about pleasure and stimulation. Coziness from a warm brownie or relaxing with a bowl of popcorn.
5. Habits & Traditions: Let’s be real, sometimes we just eat because it’s what we’re used to. Habits and traditions influence a lot of our choices in life, food included.

In the Practical Path membership, we dive into all of this. We don’t just cover what to eat, or what diet is best for you. We go deep into shifting your mindset and habits in a practical, realistic, and lasting way.
