Peace! 🌸

Truly humbled and grateful to be featured in The Star newspaper yesterday 💫. Together in this journey, we shared a glimpse into the heart of Two Sisters Rehab—where occupational therapy and physiotherapy come together to support individuals in their healing journey.

It was extra special to have one of our patients included in the feature, someone we’ve both worked closely with. Their testimony reminded us why we started this in the first place: to walk hand in hand with those who trust us with their care, and to show that rehab can be both empowering and compassionate alhamdulilah.

Thank you to everyone who believes in what we do. May Allah keep showering us with His endless blessings to continue in being a source of support, strength, and change.

🌍✨ From Mauritius to Abu Dhabi – what an incredible journey at the World Congress 2025 🏥💡

Staying at Al Ain Palace, starting our mornings with breakfast, and then heading to Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi for a day filled with insightful talks, inspiring connections, and global networking—this experience was nothing short of amazing. 🌟

What stood out the most? The humility of the experts. 💙 At the lunch table, there were students, therapists, professors, and top experts—all united in conversation, sharing knowledge as equals. Seeing a university student having a deep conversation with the head of a renowned Health Sciences department was proof that in true learning, no one is underestimated.

For two therapists from Mauritius, this was more than just a congress—it was a reminder that opportunities are limitless when you’re willing to learn, grow, and connect. 🚀

Rehabilitation is a slow step-by-step process.

During the course,
You may lose hope...
You may get disappointed..

BUT at the end
It will ALL be worth it 🤍🌸

Imagine
the parents of a child with Cerebral Palsy finally get to walk together in a mall like any other parents with their kids
After 6 to 7 years ...

Or
the father with spinal cord injury finally gets to sit in the car for a road trip with his wife and sons and enjoying the sand on the beach while sitting without any straps to hold him...
After more than a decade...

These are not tales
They are success stories
Their success stories

Because these people chose Rehabilitation
They work through it

Likewise you also can have success stories 🌸🌸🌸

P.s The little girl with whom Aarifah is working with on the treadmill has Cerebral Palsy.. She's definitely a great warrior.. never complain even when she gets tired 💪🏼
Research has shown that Treadmill training in children with Cerebral Palsy increases their walking speed enough to increase their participation in school settings 😉

A child's mental well being may appear to be insignificant but that's all it takes to shape his emotional state, personality and the adult in the society.

A good alignment and posture help in the facilitation of upper extremity movements; reaching, grasping and in hand manipulation.

These movement patterns that are repeated in functional ways lead to motor planning, meaning the child masters the ability to produce the required movement.

Continuous practice will then allow the child to interact with the world around- helping his/her overall development.

when OT talks about Fine Motor Development:

Parents usually entrust their child's development to school. This is clearly a mistake because the development of a child cannot be left entirely to school. The latter is responsible for certain aspects while the foundation of a kid starts at home and is the duties of parents.

Today we introduce you to baby Dariush 🧒

So, what the rehab sisters do to help little champ?
Part of the spectrum of interventions that rehabilitation professionals provide to a child with neurological disorders like Dariush, include:

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY; as you can see in the picture on the right, Mehtaab is providing 'Joint Compressions and Tactile Input' - a powerful tool used to:
- helps the child know where his body is in his environment; for e.g is my knee straight or flexed? (proprioceptive input)
- calms the child, as it utilizes human touch which has been shown to facilitate the release of Dopamine and Norepinephrine, thus mood regulation, motivation, lowering anxiety levels, and lowering depression (Neurogistics, 2015)

PHYSIOTHERAPY; from the picture on the left, what Aarifah is doing is called 'Chest Physiotherapy' - a set of mechanical techniques that has for benefits:
- helps the child get rid of extra mucus in his lungs
- improves Breathing pattern
- Prevents Lungs infection
- Strengthens Breathing Muscles

From vigorous and consistent therapy of OT and PT, little Dariush is now able to weight bear on 4 point with support, increased postural control, good head control and make use of both his hands.
Important to note that many a time suction had to be done just after Chest Physiotherapy to continue with the OT session of Dariush, due to clear excess secretions coming out.

Disclaimer: the physiotherapy student was under the supervision of a certified physiotherapist during the session

If you have any questions about any of the mentioned interventions, please don't hesitate to DM us; we would be glad to answer them.
