Why am I so tired?

Over the short term, not eating enough can lead to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and symptoms like fatigue, shakiness, and nausea. If a person continues not to eat, they may experience slurred speech, confusion, syncope (fainting), and even seizures.

A diet with lots of leafy green vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and healthy fats such as fish, nuts, and seeds may help lessen the effects of feeling tired!

For this session you are welcome to bring two pillows to the mat. However, if you don’t have those things handy during your practice window, don’t worry about it. You can still get the value without any cozy props.

More than one full week of tapping into all parts of our body through movement therapy, breath work and asana. Way to go!

This is a practice of strengthening your glutes!

You are more than one week in and doing great. Remember there are no rules and you can drop any limiting expectations. The most important thing is that you show up.

Even if your just checking in with yourself and your breath.

He has gained 1.5 lbs and has grown 1 inch since birth. He enjoys squirming, eating, farting, sleeping and engaging in staring contests with mom and dad.

He hasn't made a decision on his favorite sport yet 😅

Lumbar facet joint syndrome✨

These exercises offer a way to relieve pain and enhance mobility by strengthening the spine so you don’t have to rely on medication or surgical interventions. You can address the symptoms and identify the condition’s root causes.

Dr Mel provides you with simple effective exercises to start with:

1. Pelvic Tilt

Pelvic tilts lie on your back with your knees bent. And your feet flat on the floor tighten your abdominal muscles and push your lower back into the floor. Repeat 10 times.

2. Bridges

Lie on your back with your knees bent. Tighten the muscles in your stomach. Raise your hips off the floor until they line up with your knees and shoulders. Be sure that your hips are level and you squeeze your glutes as your lift. Hold for three deep breaths or 3-5 seconds. Return to the starting position lowering one vertebrae at a time and repeat 10 times.

3. Knee to chest stretch

Bend your right knee and hug your knee towards your chest, placing hands on your right leg. Then breath deeply and hold this position for 30 seconds perform on both sides.

1️⃣ What are you leaving behind in 2023? Bad habits, negative people, fear, failure?

2️⃣ Then more importantly what are you taking with you into 2024? New skills you learned, a positive mindset, uplifting community, accomplishments?

Take some time and really think that through over the next couple of days. I'd love to see what your answers are... share a few things with me in the comments ⬇️ if you feel comfortable.

Cervical Facet Joint Syndrome✨

Cervical facet syndrome is a type of osteoarthritis that occurs when the structure of one or more of the vertebral facet joints begins to deteriorate. The cervical vertebrae compose the upper segment of the spine and are mostly located near in the neck.

Dr Mel provides you with 3 exercises to help pain management for anyone who has cervical facet joint syndrome:

1. Chin Tucks:

Sit upright and look straight ahead with the ears directly over the shoulders. Place a finger on the chin. Without moving the finger, pull the chin and head straight back until a good stretch is felt at the base of the head and top of the neck.

2. Scapular squeezes:

correcting a rounded shoulder posture is important because your neck alignment will follow your shoulder position.

Simply pretend you're holding something (grape) in-between your shoulder blades pinching your shoulder blades tight for 3-5 seconds (don't allow grape to drop)

repeat 10 reps, this will ensure proper shoulder alignment and improve your posture and neck alignment.

3. Cervical Rotation

Begin by getting into proper posture using the two previous exercises.

while maintaining proper posture turn head so chin is over right shoulder hold at end range for 3-5 seconds and then turn to other side.

if you have difficulty rotating the neck fully you can apply over pressure with your hand at the end range to assist the neck into further rotation. Repeat 10 times on each side.

My sister and I both delivered our babies at this past weekend.

Dr Vander Vennet delivered them both and we couldn't say enough about the incredible care we received!

These two boys were born less than 3 days apart, They are truly bonded for life.

What is Carpal Tunnel?

Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by pressure on the median nerve. The carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway surrounded by bones and ligaments on the palm side of the hand. When the median nerve is compressed, symptoms can include numbness, tingling, and weakness in the hand and arm.

What Causes Carpal Tunnel?

Frequent, repetitive movements with the hands. Extending or flexing the wrist for long periods of time. Rheumatoid arthritis and other conditions that cause inflammation in the joints. Hormonal or metabolic changes (for example, menopause, pregnancy or thyroid imbalance)

This video provides you with a home exercise routine in order to aid in pain relief:

Step 1: Wrist AROM

Step 2: Stretches for Carpal tunnel

Step 3: Median Nerve Glide (to help keep the nerve from getting trapped)
