Inner Starr Compass Healing I am passionate about helping others heal. Transformation, Spiritual life coach https:bit.ly/3SQOjxG The brain, not having much to do, surrenders to the body.

I was born in Jamaica, where I grew up around the use of natural remedies for ailments. Some of my best memories are those of going to the country and picking medicinal bushes for health. My parents moved my seven siblings and me to the United States when I was 13 years old. I spent my High School years in New Jersey before enrolling and graduating from the United States Naval Academy. Upon graduation, I served in the United States Navy for 20 years. If one thing I would like you to know about me is that I value wellness. I was first introduced to the mind’s power and perspective when I was diagnosed with cancer in 2003. I wanted to have a second child before I had to undergo surgery to prevent me from having any future children. I discovered that mediation helped grounded, comfort, and provide hope to negative thought patterns. You see, we have emotions that cling to our bodies and creates a body of their own. Quite often, these emotional bodies (fear, illness, depression, anger, etc.) take over, and the body becomes the controller of our health. When I had cancer, I learned how my fear body wanted me to withdraw, detach from social support, cry, and stop searching for positive changes. Research shows that positive thinking is critical to the body’s immune system. Wellness starts with how you look at things, and when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change. It is my passion to help empower others to discover their self-healing energies. Her heart to give back to her community allows her to work with a diverse group of people. Her coaching experience range from transformational and spiritual life coaching.

The Science and Spirit of “Being”: Why Mindful Awareness Matters for Healing and Growth

In a culture that glorifies doing, achieving, and fixing, the art of "being" often feels radical. Yet research in neuroscience and psychology increasingly confirms what ancient wisdom traditions have long taught, that the simple act of observing our inner and outer experiences with awareness can profoundly reshape the way we think, feel, and heal.

Mindful meditation, particularly practices that emphasize "being" rather than "doing," invite us to pause, notice, and allow. Studies show that mindfulness-based interventions can reduce anxiety, depression, and stress while improving attention, emotion regulation, and overall well-being (Goyal et al., 2014; Galante et al., 2023).

From a mind–body perspective, this shift from striving to sensing is more than a mental exercise. It’s a physiological recalibration. When we rest in mindful awareness, we invite the parasympathetic nervous system to activate, lower heart rate, ease muscle tension, and allow the body’s natural repair processes to occur. Neuroscience reveals measurable changes in brain regions associated with emotional balance and self-awareness, such as the prefrontal cortex, insula, and amygdala (Calderone et al., 2024).

As a mind–body coach, I’ve seen how this practice transforms lives. When clients learn to “be with” their experience, without judgment or the impulse to control , they begin to access a deeper sense of calm and clarity. Over time, they report not only less stress but also more resilience, creativity, and compassion.

Authenticity matters.

When you speak one truth in public but live another in private, you fracture your own integrity. It’s notq just about being inconsistent, it’s about breaking the trust that connects you to others.

For me, that kind of duplicity puts you on the outside of my circle of influence. B³ecause if I can’t trust your alignment between words and actions, I can’t build with you.

Authenticity isn’t perfection. It’s the courage to be the same person behind closed doors as you are on the stage.

Not everything makes sense. Yesterday, I collapsed under the weight of what I could not control. I was consumed by fear, anxiety, and grief for my son. I could feel his hopelessness in my own body, his pain became mine. I screamed, not out of anger, but out of helplessness. Out of a mother’s ache when love can’t fix what’s breaking.

And in that space of unraveling, someone else held space for me. They didn’t try to fix me. They simply stayed. And in that stillness, memories surfaced, memories of how I fought my way back before. Of how I rebuilt myself from nothing. Of how the horses once saved my life.

This video captures that memory, the sacred rhythm between human and horse. The breath. The surrender. The remembering. The moment when presence becomes the bridge back to yourself. That horse reminded me what it feels like to be here. To trust again. To release what I no longer need to hold.

Every step is a thread in the larger tapestry. Even the ones that hurt. Even the ones that don’t make sense.

If you find yourself standing at the edge, questioning whether you can take another step, please know , understand that place. I live my work from it. And I am here to walk beside you until you find your footing again.

Reach out for a free discovery session. I currently have a special for four or eight coaching sessions, a space to reconnect with your strength, your breath, and your next step forward.

You don’t have to carry it alone. You only have to begin again.
