Yuwa,

This week Jintangka got to revisit the Tiwi Islands to deliver Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid (AMHFA) training to some of the local community members.

Over 20th - 21st February 2024, AMHFA was well received by 9 First Nation community members of Wurrumiyanga, NT. According to post-evaluation 100% of participants indicated they would attend future workshops. Also, 100% advised they would recommend the training to other people. Participants response to ‘why’ indicate themes which included;
👍🏿 it’s important
👍🏿 help grow strong young people up from mental health problems
👍🏿 it’s relevant to us
👍🏿make a change.

Thank you for having us over.

Big love,
-Jintangka.

TBT Friday 8th & Monday 11th December 2023 Jintangka was requested to deliver Youth Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid (YAMHFA) to some of Haileybury staff on beautiful Larrakia land, Darwin NT.

There was a total of 8 boarding school staff who attended with 100% who completed the 14hr accredited training.

Personally, this training was inspiring for me to facilitate as a passionate youth worker myself with 15yrs experience, it was absolutely deadly to listen to these mob ‘WHY’ for attending the training.

Loved the passion that came through from sharing yarns. Keeps up the invaluable work over there fam.

Big love.

Yuwa,

Heya magical humans 🌿🌤️

I know I’ve been kinda missing in action (MIA). So I thought I’d jump in here to let everyone know I will be having a break.

I’ve been MIA because I’ve returned to uni as a full-time student in July & will be finishing the semester on 6th October.

Since returning to uni, I have limited my time in Jintangka for correspondence only.

Business will resume in November 2023.

Thank you for your understanding & all of your support.

I appreciate you patience.

Stay bless & keep up the deadly work y’all.

Big love ✊🏽.

- Jintangka.

Yuwa,

Over 27th - 29th June, I got to co-deliver accredited Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid training to about 14 Gunbalunya local community members. All participants completed the training before receiving their certificates.

A participant said "this is a really important training and we all need to talk about wellbeing in the community".

This was such a deadly delivery. Absolutely grateful to be invited out.

Keep up the awesome work you mob.

Too deadly 🙌🏾🔥.

Yuwa,

Purlulu... Meaning, "to be still" with your surroundings.

My jaja (grandmother) taught me this during one the most difficult times last year. It continues to ground me. But importantly, it lights my emotional fire and makes the roaring burn of the fire in my belly that causes my love for life.

Keep your inner-fire burning 🔥.

Big love.

Yuwa 👋🏾

Throw back to partnering with TWO TWO ONE Mental Health Charity last year to co-deliver AMHFA training to my first delivery to Top End, Nhulunbuy community, NT.

Look forward to visiting the lands again 🙌🏾.

Last week, we organised a 2-day Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training course in Nhulunbuy.

Facilitated by Sasha King from TWO TWO ONE Mental Health Charity in partnership with Billy-Jo Wesley from Jintangka, the course was designed for people living in a remote community to learn how to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults who are presenting with mental health problems.

The MFHA training is one of the training courses we run as part of our Continuing Professional Development program for primary health care professionals living across the NT to can access funding, training, and support services to help with their career progression and their wellbeing.

Yuwa,

Just dropping a quick video to say “hello” to all of you wonderful humans.

I’ve been away for mostly personal reasons and on a bit of a journey in healing my mind, feelings and spirit.

I will be easing back into the swing of things slowly as I’m still juggling time with uni commitments. But you will see more of me on here.

Thank y’all for your biggest mob of support, kindness and love. I appreciate you.

Have a blessed week y’all 🙌🏽.
