Join me this Saturday at 9am in McKinley Park (under the trees behind the rose garden) for a donation-based yoga class. 100% of the money donated will go to WRRAP (women’s reproductive rights assistance project).

There is no justification to stripping anyone of their basic human rights. My heart is shattered for millions of reasons. Organizations like WRRAP are fighting to protect these rights so financially-in-need individuals of all ages, ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, gender identities, and sexual orientations can access abortion care and emergency contraception.

Saturday we will start with a heart opening sound bath and then dive into a vinyasa yoga class focusing on unlocking the divine feminine. Join me to flow, play, and support the right for all to have bodily autonomy

I am soooo proud of myself ✨🧚🏼‍♀️🎊 my official Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) certification came in the mail!

I haven’t talked much about this journey yet, only bits and pieces. It’s been a journey I’ve wanted to take in private this far; something to truly steep in and learn from before pouring the knowledge out to the world.

As someone who has experienced both physical and emotional trauma being in charge of my own healing for the sake of healing, learning how movement can be used as a healing modality, and eventually sharing was of the upmost importance. As how could I truly share this practice with the world authentically without taking the steps to live in it myself and understand how I can best be a practitioner and guide in this space?

Yoga and body movement have given me a home to feel myself again. To literally feel what it is like to live and breathe in my own body with my own breath and bones and muscles. The ultimate connection to self. Our darkest thoughts and lightest joys hide behind the folds of our beautiful bodies and I wanted to know each one in me. And I’m still listening and learning and discovering. But it’s time. It’s time to shout from the roof that this practice exists and is meant for any and all who want themselves. It will look different for every person. And that is the greatest beauty of it all.

I’m deeply honored to be part of the Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga community. And humbled to be able to serve others and their desires to rediscover their body in the way they need, in their own time.

Another end met by a beautiful beginning. So excited to finally begin sharing this part of my teaching journey.

Grounding into myself 🌳🪴

How are you taking care of yourself this week?

I’ve been finding it hard to maintain a self care routine and I can tell the shift in my mood when my self care is lacking. When things get busy, it’s so easy to “forget” to take that moment for your needs.

A small phrase a wise friend shared with me once has been rattling around my head a lot recently: how I can make life just a little easier for future Carly right now?

I ask myself this all the time! Sometimes the answer is prep food or sleep an extra 10 minutes. Other times it’s taking a moment to breath before getting too overwhelmed or stepping away from the computer to save my eyes from that extra strain.

The smallest things can make a huge difference down the line ✨✨

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz is magical book filled to the brim with wisdom. For a 160 page book it is one of the most life-changing pieces of texts out there.

The Four Agreements addresses the self-limiting beliefs we have made for ourselves and guides us on how to take the steps to personal freedom. His lessons are based on Toltec wisdom, and he teaches you four simple agreements to follow that allow readers to transform their lives:

1. Be Impeccable With Your Word. 
2. Don’t Take Anything Personally. 
3. Don’t Make Assumptions. 
4. Always Do Your Best. 

You might be asking, “Are these four statements really going to change my life?” Well, personally, what I saw was the relationship I had with myself and the confidence I gained from changing my mindset and following these agreements in my life.

📚BIG ANNOUNCEMENT📚

The Summer Moon is officially starting a yogi book club! I’m beyond excited to start sharing this part of yoga with you ✨

Yoga goes beyond the mat. Did you know reading about yoga IS yoga! Diving into the history, philosophy, and yogi memoirs through reading is one of the reason I fell so deeply in love with the practice of yoga. And I can’t wait to share it with all of you. We are going to examine how, we as yogis, can integrate yogic practices into our daily lives.

On the 1st of each month, I will announce our Book of the Month and the last Friday of every month we will have a discussion in person, in studio, at The Summer Moon!

This first time I looked at this picture I immediately starting critiquing myself. I could automatically name over ten things I was doing wrong, how “bad” my body looked, and what I needed to work on.
But then I stopped myself and realized YOU ARE DOING A FULL SPILT! Stop worrying about all the small little details and just appreciate the fact that your body is doing some amazing things!!
Your body may not look perfect 100% of the time and that’s okay!!!! It’s easy to get stuck in a loop of putting yourself down for it. If you find yourself in that same loop, take a breath and recognize all the cool s**t you ARE doing and getting to do.
