Biosynthesis International, EABS & OABS A somatic and psychodynamic oriented psychotherapy, including aspects of pre- and perinatal psychology, body psychotherapy and transpersonal psychology.

In Biosynthesis, we learn that containment is not repression, it is the creation of a safe field of presence where pain can be felt without overwhelming us.

As David Boadella said, “don’t drown in pain, don’t get lost in trauma.” Containment emerged early in our approach, even before the concept of the Life Fields, as a way to hold what is intense without being flooded.

This wisdom — the ability to balance holding and releasing — is essential when working with deep trauma and with more sensitive personality structures, such as borderline.

Healing happens when there is inner and relational space to integrate, without sinking.

The Biosynthesis Institute is honored to present the first book by therapist

Liane Zink, the result of a profound journey through the body, soul, and connection with others. Trained in bioenergetic analysis and somatic bioscience, with a solid foundation in psychoanalysis and psychodrama, Liane shares in this book her clinical and educational experiences spanning continents and cultures.

More than a manual, this work is an invitation to recognize the transformations therapy can bring to every human being, whether therapist or seeker of self-knowledge. A narrative that echoes the essence of our work: to care, transform, and expand bodily and emotional awareness.

Biosynthesis Workshop with Eunice Rodrigues: Connection, Contact and Context

On July 26 and 27, trainer Eunice Rodrigues led an inspiring workshop as part of the OABS Continuing Education course, deepening the fundamental pillars of the Biosynthesis approach.

With the theme “Connection, Contact and Context,” the workshop offered a clinical immersion into the relationships between body, mind, and life history. Through practical sessions, guided meditations, and rich clinical discussions, participants were able to experientially explore how these three axes support the therapeutic process in Biosynthesis.

The aim was to bring awareness to the ways we establish (or block) internal and external connections, how we come into contact with our sensations, emotions, and with others, and how context, biographical, relational, and cultural, shapes our expression and psychocorporal organization.

In the perspective of Biosynthesis, body, mind, and spirit form a living, pulsating unity. When Frankl reminds us that there is a space between stimulus and response, we can see this interval as a somatic space of presence, where the body feels, breathes, and receives before it reacts.

This space is not just an abstract pause. It is a living, embodied space, where tensions can be heard, where the heart can slow down, where the breath can find a new rhythm. This is where Biosynthesis works: helping us ground, center, and create internal space for more conscious and integrated choices.

True freedom, in this sense, is not just about responding differently, it’s about feeling whole enough to realize that we have a choice. By cultivating this space, we expand our ability to respond in a way that is authentic, connected to our values, and aligned with the life that flows within us.

Growth, then, is not only a destination. It is a somatic, relational, and spiritual process revealed in the quality of presence we can sustain in that small, sacred space between stimulus and response.

Freud reminds us that the causes of illness, physical, emotional, or psychological, are often rooted in aspects of ourselves we tend to avoid: repressed conflicts, unexpressed emotions, unresolved traumas, and stifled desires.

Self-knowledge is not an act of vanity, but of health. It is a radical gesture of taking responsibility for one self, when we dare to explore our inner shadows and listen to our silent spaces. This is a prerequisite to open the door to true healing.

Psychodynamic body oriented approaches like Biosynthesis place great importance to the repressed emotions which emerge in the form of anxiety, symptoms, or illness.

We teach in our trainings how to listen to the body and the different forms in which speaks and screams to us to transform illness into self-understanding. A necessary knowledge for healing.

"Our past lives in the present."

In this video by PsychAlive, Dr. Dan Siegel explains how we recreate past experiences in the present, all influenced by the synaptic state of our brain.

It’s neuroscience showing how old patterns shape our current reactions… and how we can transform them.

A special moment captured in Heiden, Switzerland — September 2017.
Senior Trainer certification in Biosynthesis.

Looking at this image brings back David’s presence,
his gentle strength, his welcoming gaze,
his wisdom rooted in the body and in life itself.
We carry the longing for someone who taught us

to listen with the whole body,
and to keep dancing with the soul,
in the rhythm of Biosynthesis.

There is a silent wisdom in the body, an intelligence that does not speak in words, but expresses itself through sensations, impulses, rhythms. So often, we live trying to control, fix, adjust... as if there were a correct way to be. But the body doesn’t want to be fixed. It wants to be listened to.

In Biosynthesis, we learn that the path of healing is not linear. It’s organic, spiraled, often subtle. It is the body that leads, through its tremors, its contractions, its openings. And when we allow it to guide us, something profound begins to move: the soul starts to dance.

This dance is not choreographed. It has no right steps. It is a spontaneous movement of life meeting life again. It’s when we align with what is essential in us, not what was imposed, but what has always been there, waiting for space to bloom.

Letting the body find its own path is an act of trust. And trusting the body is trusting life itself.

There is a subtle place where almost nothing happens, between one breath and the next, between waking and sleep. In this delicate interval, there is a stillness we rarely allow ourselves to enter. We’re so accustomed to movement, to speaking, to constant doing, that we forget the richness that lives within quiet.

Listening to yourself doesn’t require effort, but presence. It’s an invitation to turn inward, not as an escape, but as a return. A return to an inner space that knows, that feels, that senses what words cannot express.

Between breaths, there is pause.
Between sleep and wakefulness, there is transition.
And in each of these cracks in time, your essence can emerge, if you let it.

Taking time for yourself is not selfish.
It is an act of care, a loving responsibility toward your own being.
It is in this space in between, subtle, almost invisible, that you can truly meet yourself.

Several years ago, during a conference in Palma de Mallorca, the OABS (International Organization for Biosynthesis Somatic-Psychotherapy) was founded. On that occasion, David Boadella invited Eunice Rodrigues to take on the role of the organization’s first president, a position she held for two consecutive terms. The creation of OABS marked a significant step in the international structuring of Biosynthesis, strengthening the dialogue among professionals, institutes, and training schools, and contributing to the ethical and scientific consolidation of the approach in different countries.
