👀 Curious minds, gather 'round! Today, we are continuing our FAQ series on ocular prosthetics with another question:

🙀 Will I find the process of producing the prosthetic painful?

➡️ No. Thanks to apEye, the methods previously used for obtaining an eye impression are a thing of the past. The CASIA2 scan takes only a few seconds per eye and is non-invasive. Next comes the production of the 3D print followed by the fitting by the ocularist. The aim of apEye is to speed up the process and also to make it more pleasant for the patient. Especially for young adults or people who are being fitted with an artificial eye for the first time, we significantly reduce the fear of the treatment.

The doctor or ocularist treating you will then complete the individual fitting with you. There is therefore no noticeable difference compared to conventional ocular prosthetics. Welcome back, apEye explorers! After delving into Step 1 – the scan – in our last post, let's now immerse ourselves in the fascinating Step 2: THE PRINT!

⚙️ This is how it works:
Once your doctor gives the green light for artificial eye creation, they'll guide you to an eye specialist. Here, your eye socket will be measured, and the healthy eye will be scanned in just a few seconds using the TOMEY CASIA2, providing a template for 3D printing. Depending on the hospital or clinic, the printed apEye is returned to the ocularist after only a few weeks. In close consultation with you, the ocularist then achieves the right fit.
