It's time for session one! 🧘🏿‍♀️

We're only a few hours away from healing in community with one another. I am really excited to offer this 8-session series dedicated to supporting those on the journey to finding healing, growth, and reconnection during these darkened days. 🌒

This series is a heartfelt gift, my way of engaging in the practice of giving to the collective and holding space for those who seek deeper connection with themselves and others. 💞

✨ What to Expect: Each session is curated to support your unique healing path, incorporating mindfulness, grounding techniques, and somatic practices aimed at nurturing the body, mind, and spirit.

This is what doing the work looks like. You will leave each session a completely different person than when you arrive. 💃🏿

If this resonates with you or someone you know, it's not too late to join us – and please feel free to share this post with anyone who may benefit from this experience.

We can collectively create a ripple 🧿 of healing within our community. 🌱

What Arianna Huffington is sharing here highlights a critical point about our evolving understanding of well-being. She noted that in 2007, there was little recognition of burnout symptoms—like exhaustion, cynicism, and decreased self-worth—which are now acknowledged by the World Health Organization. Arianna’s experience underscores how crucial it is to recognize and address these signs in ourselves.

What stands out to me is the reminder that the world we need is always being created, often through our own experiences and actions. What’s particularly poignant is that for members of historically marginalized communities, who bear the weight of systemic inequities, it is even more essential to recognize the importance of nurturing our well-being from within.

By tuning into our bodies and maintaining a right relationship with our inner world, we can hear and respond to our body’s communication to us. This self-awareness and self-care allows us to provide what we need for ourselves, fostering resilience and well-being, even when the external world falls short of making those provisions for us. In this way, we make taking good care of ourselves, from the inside out, a liberatory act of resistance that is crucial to sustaining a healthy, balanced life.

This is the relationship dynamic.

On the left, the person is clear enough that they are able find the right tool (emotional maturity) to sit with someone and communicate their emotions without choking the life out of everything around them with their smoke and mirrors and projections.

On the right, the person is clear enough that they are able to find the right tool (watering can) to use in order to sit with someone, honor their individual emotions, without taking ownership and being overwhelmed by someone else’s smoke.

We are not responsible for anyone else’s feelings, but having the ability to respond to them helps us, and everything around us grow.

This Valentines Day bring your awareness to your relationship containers. Do you have the tools to capture the medicine that comes from your relationships and pour it back into them?

If not, I’m happy to share mine.

This reminds me that "Black is beautiful" was born from the understanding that self-care is healthcare. Since the middle passage, Black women's wellness practices have always been revolutionary acts; moving beyond surviving into thriving.

We have historically only heard of Rosa Parks, prisoner #7053, in relation to her bus boycott arrest during the Civil Rights Movement. What we never hear is how she learned yoga from her Mother, maintained a consistent yoga practice for more than 30yrs, and taught yoga to her community in Detroit.

Her family recalls, “Inner peace and clarity had always been important to her.” In Jim Crow America, this speaks of a different type of activism; the revolutionary act of self-love.

Parks' younger relatives spoke of how she would answer the door in yoga pants and included yoga in the youth programs she developed at her church. As a devote Christian, Rosa Parks understood that faith without works is dead.

She chose to do the work of balancing her inner landscape while traversing her outer landscape. I stand in Tadasana embodying the unshakable strength of a mountain, in remembrance of the literal immovable, full woman Rosa Parks truly was.

Namaste Mother Parks 🧘🏿‍♀️💪🏿✊🏿
