I am not a fan of New Year’s resolutions. Everyone tends to make these large goals that only last a few week before people give up or fail. There’s generally too much restriction and very all or nothing mindsets. I tried these for years before realizing that I needed to change my mindset about new years. Instead, I spend all year long focusing on creating habits that I can sustain. So this year, instead of your New Year’s resolutions, try something different and create sustainable long lasting habits. Here’s a few tips on how:

- When creating a goal for a new habit, start small. Don’t over extend yourself or do something you won’t be able to keep up daily. You can build on your habits in the following months after being successful in keeping up with the first goal.
- Make long lasting and SUSTAINABLE habits. Don’t try to cut out your favorite food or add in a workout you hate, that won’t lead you to success. Think realistically about something that you can sustain.
- Stay accountable by having a friend or loved one join you. Habits are easier to sustain if the people you spend your time with are also joining in on.
- Invest in yourself! If you’re struggling finding realistic habits that you can keep up with, you may need a little support. Reach out to a nutritional therapist (me!) to create a long term nutrition and lifestyle plan that’s catered to you.

Happy new year and happy habit building to everyone 😊

Let’s not overcomplicate nutrition. The number one rule I have for myself is to eat real food as much as possible. Too many fad diets have people eating “foods” that come in a wrapper, stuffed with artificial ingredients that we shouldn’t be consuming. Most things that come in a wrapper are stripped of their basic nutrient, are inflammatory to the body and likely lead to blood sugar spikes.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s hard to eat real food 100% of the time. But I make a conscious effort to eat fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, poultry, eggs, nuts and seeds as much as possible. And I have never felt better!

If you’re trying to pick a diet that is sustainable, supports your long term health and improve the way you feel, make sure you’re picking one where real food is the #1 priority 🥒🥩🥦🍇🥚🍒🍑

If you are struggling with one or more of these symptoms, the root cause of your illness may actually be a leaky gut:

- diarrhea/constipation
- gas and bloating
- brain fog
- autoimmune conditions
- fatigue
- nutrient deficiencies
- anxiety and depression
- painful indigestion
- food sensitivities
- seasonal allergies

In a healthy body, he mucous lining of our intestines has a tight barrier that controls what comes in and out. It is designed to absorb water and nutrients from our food into our bloodstream.

A leaky gut is when this intestinal barrier is impaired. If the gut lining is damaged, it can allow toxins, undigested food and bugs to “leak” into your bloodstream. And often, these toxins can trigger an inflammatory response that may manifest as various diseases.

Intestinal barriers can be damaged for a number of reasons. Some possible reasons are stress, over consumption of alcohol, consuming food allergens, processed foods, poor gut bacteria and more.

If you have any questions about a leaky cut, leave it in the comments below?

You REALLY are what you eat. We have all heard the phrase but it’s true! The nutrients you eat are the essential building blocks of every single cell in our body. Our food is the fuel to our body and the basis of all our cells.

If you are frustrated with feeling tired, run down and sick or struggle with your weight, your mood, your hormones or your digestion, there is probably a good chance you need to take a look at what you are eating.

Food is truly medicine, it can completely change your life if you are eating a nutrient dense, whole food diet that works for you. And if you’re not, it might be the reason that you feel the way that you do.

I know first hand how overwhelming the wellness world can be, and finding a diet and lifestyle that works long term can also be a challenge. I am here to help you, teach you about the importance of what you are putting in your body and find a sustainable approach to your eating.
