As comes to a close, we would like to recognize some health professionals who dedicate their careers to combatting health disparities among racial and ethnic minorities.

1. Dr. James E.K. Hildreth Ph.D., M.D. is the 12th president and CEO of Meharry Medical College. He is most notably known for his research on HIV and discovering the critical role of cholesterol in HIV infection.

2. Dr. Paul Juarez Ph.D., Professor and Vice Chair for Research, Family & Community Medicine at Meharry Medical College, is nationally recognized for his research in health disparities, particularly
in the area of injury prevention.

3. Dr. Patricia Matthews-Juarez Ph.D. is the Senior Vice President for Strategic Initiatives & Innovation. She has extensive experience in medical education, research training, administration, and management.

4. Dr. Kimberly Lamar Ph.D., M.P.H., M.S., is the Assistant Commissioner for the Office of Health Disparities Elimination at the Tennessee Department of Health. She is popularly known for her work involving health equity, health disparities, and community health.
