🔬💙 Congratulations to Prof. Pramod Wangikar (Associated Faculty, KCDH | Dept. of Chemical Engineering, IIT Bombay) and team on their recent study identifying blood markers for early diabetes and kidney risk!
We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Prof. Wangikar and his team on this impactful research, carried out in collaboration with Dr. Rakesh Sahay (), Dr. Manisha Sahay (), Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, and Clarity Bio Systems () — a metabolomics-focused startup contributing to this effort! 🎉
Their work uncovers critical blood-based metabolic signatures that distinguish healthy individuals from those with diabetes and early kidney involvement—revealing how metabolic pathways shift well before conventional clinical markers detect risk. By demonstrating clear molecular transitions across health, diabetes, and kidney disease, the study strengthens the case for earlier detection, improved risk prediction, and more targeted patient stratification.
This research represents a significant step towards understanding diabetes as a heterogeneous, system-wide metabolic condition rather than a single disease, highlighting why some patients progress faster than others and why standard markers often fall short.
This project, supported by the Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH), reflects collaboration across engineering, clinical science, and digital health. Research contributions such as this advance our mission to drive innovation at the intersection of metabolomics, computation, and public health—bringing us closer to proactive, preventive, and personalised diabetes care.
Congratulations to the entire team! đź’™
