🔬💙 Congratulations to Prof. Pramod Wangikar (Associated Faculty, KCDH | Dept. of Chemical Engineering, IIT Bombay) and team on their recent study identifying blood markers for early diabetes and kidney risk!

We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Prof. Wangikar and his team on this impactful research, carried out in collaboration with Dr. Rakesh Sahay (), Dr. Manisha Sahay (), Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, and Clarity Bio Systems () — a metabolomics-focused startup contributing to this effort! 🎉

Their work uncovers critical blood-based metabolic signatures that distinguish healthy individuals from those with diabetes and early kidney involvement—revealing how metabolic pathways shift well before conventional clinical markers detect risk. By demonstrating clear molecular transitions across health, diabetes, and kidney disease, the study strengthens the case for earlier detection, improved risk prediction, and more targeted patient stratification.

This research represents a significant step towards understanding diabetes as a heterogeneous, system-wide metabolic condition rather than a single disease, highlighting why some patients progress faster than others and why standard markers often fall short.

This project, supported by the Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH), reflects collaboration across engineering, clinical science, and digital health. Research contributions such as this advance our mission to drive innovation at the intersection of metabolomics, computation, and public health—bringing us closer to proactive, preventive, and personalised diabetes care.

Congratulations to the entire team! đź’™

🔬💙Congratulations to Prof. Shamik Sen (Associated Faculty, KCDH | Dept. of Biosciences and Bioengineering, IIT Bombay) and team for their publication “MMP9 shapes cell mechanics to drive collective invasion in cancer” in npj Systems Biology and Applications!

We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Prof. Shamik Sen and his team on the publication of their latest research in npj Systems Biology and Applications (Nature Portfolio)! 🎉

Their study, “MMP9 Shapes Cell Mechanics to Enable Collective Invasion in Cancer,” offers important mechanistic insights into how cancer cells coordinate and invade as a group. The work demonstrates that MMP9 remodels the extracellular matrix, alters cellular mechanics, and enables tumour cells to move collectively rather than individually—a defining feature of highly aggressive cancers. The study also reveals how mechanical forces and biochemical signalling reinforce one another, accelerating tumour progression and highlighting potential targets for future therapeutic strategies.

This paper is co-authored by Asadullah, Sarbajeet Dutta, Sumon Kumar Saha, Anisha Karmakar (KCDH PhD Scholar), Nikita Sharma, Sudikshaa Vijayakumar, and Prof. Shamik Sen.

Research contributions such as this advance our mission to foster interdisciplinary inquiry at the intersection of mechanobiology, computation, and digital health innovation—deepening our understanding of complex diseases through data-driven and mechanistic exploration. Congratulations to the entire team!
