Today, we celebrate our Hospitalists, 300 physicians and 130 advanced practice providers, across RWJBarnabas Health. Hospitalists are physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants who work exclusively in hospital medicine. They coordinate care for hospitalized patients and collaborate with community primary care providers to ensure continuity of care when a patient leaves the hospital.

RWJUH Rahway held its Heart & Vascular patient reunion on Wednesday, February 11th.

Syed Rizvi, an employee in Biomed, was diagnosed by Dr. Howard Levitt, Medical Director of Cardiology at RWJUH Rahway's Healthy Heart Center, with a blocked artery and sent immediately to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children's Hospital of New Jersey for a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft.

Syed, a new father of a four-month-old at the time, then attended Cardiac Rehab in East Brunswick at an RWJBarnabas Health facility, where he made a full recovery. Now, he's back at work and back to taking care of his newest addition to the family, thanks to the heart and vascular teams at all the RWJBarnabas Health facilities, who came together to save Syed's life.

Syed Rizvi is a great example of why we celebrate American Heart Month.❤️

Congratulations to Jeph Gamo, Assistant Manager of Security and Isaiah Sierra, Security Officer at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway on receiving the STAR (Special Treatment at Rahway) Award for January 2026.

An excerpt from their recommendation letter reads as follows:

“When it was brought to their attention, they went outside and worked together to shovel the patient’s car out, ensuring the patient could return home safely without compromising his recovery. This act went beyond their standard job responsibilities and demonstrated outstanding collaboration, responsiveness, and genuine concern for the patient’s wellbeing.”

On February 17th, we embraced the energy of the Year of the Fire Horse with a vibrant Lunar New Year celebration to which all employees were invited to attend.

The celebration honored the spirit of strength, innovation, and perseverance.

The celebration featured festive décor, music, and cuisine prepared by our team, as well as a spectacular 45-minute Lion Dance performance by Cynthia Liu and her team to usher in good fortune and prosperity for our hospital.

All employees were welcome to attend.
