Intentional deep breathing. Are you doing it?
This is a powerful tool in supporting your body, mind, and energy.
We navigate so much stimuli throughout the day. Our thoughts, the sounds around us, the voices near us, and much more.
While the sights, sounds, smells, are coming through, there are a variety of stressors. Time pressure, decision fatigue, conflict navigation, and errands.
Family challenges, work struggles, and sh*tty traffic.
Financial fears, health concerns, sleep issues, and a hijacked nervous system.
Waiting for good news, making a major life change, taking a test, talking to a new human.
ALL THE THINGS!!
You take your breath everywhere you go. Use it, learn to use it wisely.
It can be such a powerful tool. It can offer you support in seconds. It does’t cost any money, and it travels very well. Learn to use it.
Do you know the benefits of intentional deep breathing? Do you know how it impacts your muscles? Your heart? Your mind? Your sleep? Your weight? Your stress level?
Do you know that your day could feel more satisfying just by getting a little more intentional about using deep breathing as a tool to support your well-being.
I learned about deep breathing and some benefits in nursing school to help patients with anxiety, prevent post-op complications, and support pulmonary patients. I learned about deep breathing some more in health coaching school. I also learn more about deep breathing while navigating years of chronic pain, and physical therapy.
I want to invite you to notice your breath just a little more than you do now. Count when you catch yourself holding your breath, or count and catch yourself when you sigh.
I find breathing in through my nose for a count of 4, holding it a few seconds, and then exhaling(mouth open) for a count of 7 and feeling my shoulders softening and moving down.
There are so many ways to go about intentional deep breathing. A variety of approaches. Learn and explore, find what works best for you.
