With the theme “Zero Separation. Act now! Keep parents and babies born too soon together”, this year’s World Prematurity Day is an opportunity to advocate for every parent’s right to have unrestricted access to their babies in hospital, no matter where and when. This improves the health and development of the babies and also helps the mental health of the parents.
In addition, it is important to know that some preterm babies are at risk of a potentially blinding condition called Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).
Screening for ROP is an essential step for preventing blindness for ROP and we all need to be aware of this.
Let's all work together to keep our lovely babies healthy and safe!
